Better preview than I could have done @Purple88 . BG will get the votes and one poster has them winning easy, but I hope that's not the case. The Chargers defense is a complete rebuild. That will make this a tough game for them to win. I hope the offense can keep them in the game and give them a chance to pull the upset. Will Egan hasn't taken a snap in either scrimmage while he gets back to 100% from an injury. The only good part about that is that their QB2 who is a soph., and QB3 who is a frosh have both gotten some good reps and show a lot of promise for the next 2 or 3 years in Mt. Washington. Both threw TD's and looked good against Ballard last night. The Chargers defense has to grow up quickly for them to compete in the first two weeks against BG and Franklin County. We will find out Saturday if they have made that much progress and are ready. Just hope it's a little cooler next Saturday. Will be there for both Rafferty Bowl games ! Good luck to both teams !

Qb play was down by touch. Would think they would run him more if not that way. Pass game is not great but run game will be better than what showed last night.

East takes it inside the 10 but fumbles. Ballard gets a couple of first downs on nice runs then is forced to punt. East then connects on a 40-45 yard pass play for a TD. Now 24-0 East. 5 min left in varsity portion.

The other post didn’t post for some reason. That was probably 45 min ago. Anyway, BE has driven the ball to the red zone 4 times. That has resulted in 2 TD’s a made FG and a wide left missed FG. East leads 17-0 at the half. Neither team is showing a ton but Ballard has struggled to move the ball. The Bruins probably have maybe 3 or 4 first downs. For East they have had success running and throwing the ball with both QB2, a sophomore, and QB 3, a freshman, playing well and both completing a TD pass.

After trading 3 and outs BE goes on about a 65 yard drive to score. XP, which was not live, is good. BE 7 Ballard 0. 6:00 1st.

The Bruins roll into Mt Washington tonight for their annual scrimmage with The Chargers. The Chargers are coming off a controlled/live scrimmage against Madison Central that saw the Chargers D struggle handling the Flexbone that MC has gotten pretty efficient with. The offense was fine without their QB1 so that was a plus. Really don’t know much about what Ballard brings this season but I will try to update tonight. I believe the BE qb is out again tonight so the O will be led by a Soph and Frosh QB but both are pretty good. Will update as I can.

Controlled type for most of the scrimmage but then did a full live quarter. Madison Central scored at will. East's offense had success but not at the rate that MC had. Madison Central won the scrimmage anyway it was being scored.

So far Madison Central Flexbine is carving up the Chargers. Won’t play a lot of teams that run this offense but every team they play will try to run the ball. Lots of work to do.

The Chargers make the trek to Richmond to get some preseason work against Madison Central. Tough matchup for the Chargers as they will face an offense they rarely see in the MC Flexbone variation. An offense that put up 300 yards rushing on Trinity in the playoffs last year before 3 or 4 second half fumbles turned the game into a route. East has a new QB in Will Egan, younger brother of 2022 KY Mr. Football Travis Egan. They also have to replace a lot of starters everywhere except at the WR position. It will be a challenge for the Chargers against a well coached MC squad. These two teams are probably scrimmaging as a result of the head coaches knowing each other very well. Madison Centrals head man William Blair was a standout for Rockcastle County for their first over trip to the state finals losing to Boyle County 25 years ago in 2001. He later was an assistant for Larry French while the Bullitt East HC was a player at Boyle county from '09-'12. The two coaches were later colleagues together at Southwestern as assistants for Larry French when Larry took the HC job there after leaving Boyle Co. I think this scrimmage will be good for the Chargers to get a LOT of new starters some snaps against a well coached team.

South Warren beat Highlands in 5 innings. 10-0. Bullitt East beat GRC in 5 innings 13-3. The Chargers will face the undefeated and nationally ranked SW squad at 7 pm on Sat. for the big prize.

About 40 freshman. They have lost a few so looking closer to 120 come August. Still a lot to carry.

2022 6A State Championship Game. Bullitt East 28 Male 27. Recent enough game that it doesn't require a much of a write up. But.....East down 14 points less than a minute into the game. Ties it up right before halftime, seems to have all of the momentum and getting the ball to start the second half. Then East does nothing on offense the entire 3rd quarter. (credit Male's defense !). 4th quarter TD, hold Male to a fg with less than 2 minutes to play. Take over on their own 20 with 1:43 left in the game, march down the field 80 yards in less than a minute and convert the greatest 2 point conversion in history !! A play called "Cheesesteak"

Biggest challenge I see for Coach Burns is finding a good staff. Good assistants are hard to find these days.

Congrats to Coach Dukes. Obviously loved his time in Columbia for him to come back to where he played his college ball to coach. Good luck to him !

Pulaski has posted their HC job as open. Mercer may have snagged a good one. This is late I know

Travis Burns wife is Boyle alum and still teaching and coaching at Boyle. Two small children. Big raise and closer to home. Pulaski loves their football program and leaving in May is tough but job checks a lot of boxes.

Ed was a better football coach than he ever got credit for. The resources at that time were almost non existent compared to Boyle today. 3 or 4 stipends a year at most. Was pretty successful as OC at Centre for a number of years !! Good man !!
