I am heart broken.

As it relates to this site and forum, Doc was the biggest supporter and fan that Covington Catholic football ever had.  He loved the school and loved being a part of every CCH team as team Doctor.  His legacy within any walls that contain a Covington Catholic High School will last for eternity.

On a personal level, Doc was like my 3rd Grandpa.   When my dad graduated from UofL Medical school and completed his residency, we moved back to NKY and he went into practice with Dr. Brueggemann on West 19th Street in Covington...Right by St. Augustine Church.  They remained in practice together until Doc's retirement, but the 2 never lost their love and respect for each other.   Every time I saw Doc he would ask how my dad was.

My dad passed 2 years ago and now Doc is gone.  That is a big part of my life that is now empty, save for the memories.

Rest in Peace Doc.  There is not a shadow of a doubt that one if the best spots in heaven has a seat for you.

In my opinion he is the legend of CCH. Ray, Kaelin, Tieman, Haders and Krumps all belong on the mountain but Doc is at the top. 
Thank you Doc for your love of CCH, your friendship and for showing me what it means to be a man. Mostly, thank you for your love of family and Jesus. You will be missed. 

95 years old. Died on Good Friday at the Hour of Mercy. He was attending 6:30am mass every day at St. Agnes up through a week or two ago. He lived a great life.

Covington Catholic - Class of 1949

Doc Brueggs led the entire team in the Hail Mary before and after every football game for decades. When I think of Doc, the first thing I picture in my mind looks something like this...

Sorry for your loss.  Sounds like CCH lost as good a friend as they've had in their long history.

Doc was Cov. Cath.  He was the most central figure in its existence.  Rest east Doc.
