  1. I just assumed the enforcement had changed. I see them dangling down all of the time in plain view and don't remember seeing it called or seeing a player told to put it in or whatever.
  2. I wasn't being sarcastic, that was a serious question. But if we're sharing opinions I think Ashland loses to to Boyle or Corbin both by at least 3 td's.
  3. Boyle's plays at Rebel Stadium on Ballard Robinson field. Ballard Robinson was a school board member and long time PA announcer for the Rebels. Perhaps the biggest supporter of the Rebels in their early days. The stadium, in my opinion, should be name Chuck Smith Stadium. But as of yet that hasn't happened.
  4. Station Oline did not have a good game. You are correct. Still time to fix but they struggled against Franklin, with much credit going to Franklin.
  5. Once the chains are set after a new first down, there is a clip that is clipped on the backside of the closest "hard" yard line. 20, 25, 30.... which ever is closest to the first stick. After that players running on and off the field kick the chains, coaches get in the way, players fall out of bounds etc.... You try to put them back where you were but sometimes it's hard on the fly. Then whenever a measurement is needed the officials use the clip to establish where the chains were originally set. The crew tries to get things set back to the original placement as best as can be telling the opposite stick to "pull it tight" again and things like that but they get knocked and moved around quite a bit. Especially if it's a good, close, fast paced game. I've never known anyone to purposefully set the sticks short so the players think the 1st down is shorter than it appears.
  6. Brown also played some QB at Danville. Bodner has played QB at Boyle at times. Gives Coach Haddix a LOT of options on each play.
  7. I believe even @Hatz could have rushed for a few yards with these kind of holes. Like I said, the oline has a ways to go but they got off to a good start.
  8. East should take care of business but PRP always has some dudes who can get down the field. Keep them in front of you and East should pull away.
  9. BE definitely has work to do but the oline was better than I thought they would be game 1. Almost no varsity snaps for 4 of the 5 interior linemen before tonight. Jr. RB Mikey West scored 5 rushing td's after missing all but I think three games last year to injury. BE passing game has to improve. QB and top 4 wr starters except for Bostock maybe are all new to varsity minutes. They will get better. But the line came off the ball and I thought offensive and defensive fronts controlled the line of scrimmage. Defense except for a couple of breakdowns on option plays I thought played pretty well. Bullitt East controlled the line of scrimmage. Woodford lost a lot and it showed but they still have some dudes. #4 on defense was making tackles all over the field. They will get better as the season goes as their new guys get more snaps. QB was tough, Layton, #1 was very talented. Good luck to them the rest of the season.
  10. Whoever suits up for Boyle, they better come to play. GS is a very good team. Tough and disciplined.
  11. Any bowl games next weekend with an early game could find it difficult to get early games played. Boyle's bowl, Pike County bowl at Pikeville, Marion County are all on Sat and feature early games. Pike County Bowl at Belfry on Friday does also.
  12. I thought Lincolns D was pretty tight, but their offense seemed to be looking for an identity. Never seemed to have any rhythm. As Newark alluded to, that might have been because of Casey's defense.
