Southwestern is one to keep an eye on I would think. I think the natives are a bit restless there and the Warriors may be on the way to a hard luck 1-win season but even worse I don't think their fans feel they have a bumper crop of talent waiting to emerge in the underclassmen ranks.

Here is the path they are on now:

2022- Started 13-0 before losing in the Semi-Finals.

2023- Respectable 9-4 losing in the Region Finals.

2024- Notable step back to 7-6 but still reached the Regional Finals.

2025- Staring down 1-9 if they lose to Rockcastle County.

I could see one more year as this is a team heavy with Juniors, but their offense has really struggled to find an identity and their defense does have several Seniors and has struggled most of the season. With the schedule they play and their District mates all seemingly either surging or sustaining I would probably expect another losing record in 2026.

Whitley, Perry Central, Frankfort, Mercer? Just went down records on KHSAA website and these stand out to me. There are several more. Is Central already "open"?

One of those is untouchable.  Only leaving if he chooses to.

You have to think Casey County could be. Going 1-20 over two years looks bad. Coach Hatter and those guys are doing all they can, to be sure. But admin there may not see it that way. Something that may protect him is lack of interest in the job overall.

I have heard more than one rumor that Lickert will be stepping down at NCC because he is now a Principal in Cincinnati.

I also believe Conner and Holmes are both "interim" jobs that will re-open this offseason. Both coaches filling those slots should get the job should they want it, but I am not sure if they do or not.

That's something the vast majority of places need to consider, and if it's in a "no win" situation  (both literally and/or figuratively) as it pertains to their district(s) and/or region (first two rounds)- like many that come open every year are- then that needs to be considered even more because the pool of interest becomes even less.

I know Casey tried to get some quality assistants in the district, but the head coach wanted it to be "in House" and refused to seek help. He lost his OC last season 4 games into the season and they have struggled. I am not sure if it is talent, discipline or scheme.

Didn't want to hear that 😪😪. I don't think they have a coach on the staff now that would fit right in either. Nevels isn't even a year removed from resigning at Holmes. Not that he would have necessarily been their guy either. Should be an attractive job for someone. Very winnable district year in and year out. New field.
