You at least have to ask him if you're X. I don't see any way you can justify not considering him.

Genuine question. What would make him want to leave where he’s at now with the success he’s having?

Stonebreaker won at Casey.  It's not easy but there is a group down there that want a good football program.

The group down there who want to have a good program have been silenced, ignored, and over looked for awhile now... Sadly.

Fair point, and maybe nothing. I just think it's a call you make if you're X.

Why Hunter might want the St. X job?

To move away from a cream puff 3A and see if he can lead a team to championship level success vs the 6A “big boys”.

Why Hunter might not want the St. X job?

He would be leaving 3A where his CAL team is dominating the Class with no let up in sight to go to 6A where a few “big boys” reside (Manual, Male, FD to name a few) and where his primary 6A rival would be a school in St. Matthews that has a 28 - 12 record vs his new school over the last 25 years, not to mention a ton of state championship trophies housed on Shelbyville Road.

Money. I have no idea what he's paid at CAL but if were to get a raise maybe would interest him. St. X is spending millions on new locker room, new football field, and new video scoreboard so should have great facility. Going from 3A to 6A is like jumping from FCS to FBS in college.

Ok thanks for the responses! It paints a better picture for me. Definitely a lot of upside there!

Casey won a district championship in 2022. Didn't take long for things to go south it seems.

Really good class of seniors that year. Casey doesn't see many classes like that, and then coach turnover (no matter how good those coaches may be) is a negative impact in such a short timespan.

CAL just renovated their weight room, plus is in the process of getting ready to build a new indoor facility with football field, locker room, etc.  He holds a few titles at CAL which come with additional pay.  He’s very content at CAL but as many have alluded….it never hurts to ask.  Just be ready to ask someone else to the dance quickly if you get rejected ?

Chris Wolfe ready to join the private ranks?

I’d guess that it would be local as you mentioned.

May not be someone on staff but it could be someone in the building???

Also when looking at local schools, the HC at the alphabet school, with the initials HC comes to mind. He has some success in the “student acquisition” and some State Championships in his pocket?

Great point but where CAL has the advantage is they actually have a feeder school.  Kids like Kellan Hall, Jackson Burke, etc. actually played for CAL in middle school.

I thought about that as well.  I think the well is drying up a bit at Male & with what appears to be a 2nd straight 2nd round playoff loss & 3rd straight blowout loss to Manual on the horizon, he just might ready to make that jump.  A lot will probably depend on if he has the time in the KTRS to get the pension or where he would possibly teach.

If I were St X, I’d consider a call to Matt Jones at KCD as well.

X will always be X.

X and T are the pillars of KY HS Football, and have been for a long, long time. Even when Highlands was on their run, and others before them, to play and beat X or T was a watershed moment. I argue X and T alone hold this status. They play the best from Ohio and expect to take one or two from them. Those two jobs are just on a different level of mystique to me.

X is a lot like Notre Dame to me. They might not be the best place to win a championship, but for coaches, the chance to be the Head Coach at X (or T), well, that's something that I don't think any other job in KY can match.
