Potential Job Openings

Didn't want to hear that ??. I don't think they have a coach on the staff now that would fit right in either. Nevels isn't even a year removed from resigning at Holmes. Not that he would have necessarily been their guy either. Should be an attractive job for someone. Very winnable district year in and year out. New field.

Might Dan Court have the interest in the job?

That's something the vast majority of places need to consider, and if it's in a "no win" situation  (both literally and/or figuratively) as it pertains to their district(s) and/or region (first two rounds)- like many that come open every year are- then that needs to be considered even more because the pool of interest becomes even less.

For sure, it may be a job for someone begging to be a first time HC or a vet looking to fill the last couple years of their career. Hard to say, and they may keep Hatter given they are still a young team and a good portion of their talent is in that current junior class.

I saw Casey's record and a few other jobs but didn't know the details. 1-20 will not be a good look, but as others have said there's always more to it. I'd imagine the talent pool has went a little dry, considering the recent years of football, boys basketball, baseball, and even girls basketball all being down at Casey (based off KHSAA records)

Other jobs listed however do not have the excuse of no talent.

Stonebreaker won at Casey.  It's not easy but there is a group down there that want a good football program.

The talent pool is very dry at Casey.  Last year, they had 2 players who had ever started a varsity game, and no one had any quarterback experience.  I don't believe Nick Saban could have won a game last year.  This year has been better, but far from good or competitive in several games.  The team has only 3 seniors, with several juniors and a decent size freshman class.  If the administration changes coaches, I think it would be another setback for Casey.  3 coaches in the past 4 years is tough enough to overcome as it is.  Even with the returning junior class, Casey may be able to win a few more games next year but will not be as competitive as in years past.  I do not believe there is a quick fix, and that it will be a several years process for Casey.

I know something was said earlier about assistant coaches, but if I'm not mistaken, Casey has 2 assistant coaches from outside of the county now.  1 from Lincoln County and 1 from Bourbon County.  The assistant who started the season as OC last year was still on staff after the position was given to the assistant from Lincoln County.

Casey also had two assistants leave, the former OC left (makes sense after staying on staff after OC duties "removed") as did the OL Coach, I think both coaches were also Casey County grads so it would be weird to see hometown coaches leave from a place like Casey. But, you are right, I do not believe there is a quick fix no matter who the HC is (although Saban probably gets guys to magically move in by name alone lol)

I think this just speaks more about Stoney more than anything.

It is really hard maintaining long term success at rural County schools, especially where agriculture is so important. Talent pool will be pretty predictable. You have to really get complete buy in at the feeder/volunteer level so that you maximize that talent by the time it gets to High School and then at the High School level you have to develop/develop/develop.

I always thought (and continue to think) that Stonebreaker was just very good at sort of simplifying things so the controllable were controllable, on the field, and purely speculating here, off the field as well. His staff clearly trust in him, he seems to keep everything positive but never gets over his skis emotionally or over complicating play calls, they seemingly schedule smart but rarely flashy, and above all else I always got the impression that there was a culture of taking pride in their work for all people involved in the program.

I think at places like Casey County it starts and ends with buy-in. A lot of these kids and families in these rural agriculture areas have pressure to be prioritize work that supports the family. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it means it is a tough job for a Coach to connect the dots of the external values of sports and why that time investment is worth it. I can't say for sure, but I would venture to guess Stonebreaker is very good at that.

Every time I have watched a Stonebreaker team on video I always have the same though, including this year. "They don't do anything eye opening, but they look like they are confident in what they are doing." I think there is a beauty in that and you can apply that beyond just the play calling and execution.

I believe there is a possibility that the Warren County School District will have 3 open jobs by the new year. Coach Howard at Greenwood, his youngest son is a SR, wouldn’t be shocked to see him step away. Rumor mill is that Warren Central Coach Harness may be on to greener pastures, and then the Warren East job of course. Should be a very interesting cycle, curious to see the names that start popping up.

Who???

The one who played at UK and had a short stint in the NFL.

For once I don't see alot of movement in NKY. Conner and Holmes being interim positions, NCC (for the reason above) maybe the only changes. That's a big change from past years, where you would see 5 or 6.

I foresee Bracken County being open since the coach's son graduates this year.

I would LOVE to see Coach Dantzler pop up at one of the NKY openings. Chances that it happens are maybe .01% but maybe there is a chance. He should look into it, guarantee he would love the life style in NKY and he could fit in almost anywhere. Out of Holmes, Conner and New Cath...the New Cath job would be the most appealing from a come right in and pick up stand point. Conner from a competition stand point being a big school. Holmes from a culture stand point and rebuilding a program. Don't know what all he is up for at this point in his coaching career but all 3 offer a little bit of something different. Again, big bonus is a great place for him to live for a while. He could have a little bit of any lifestyle he wants in the area, except a beach. Some nice big lakes nearby though lol.

Because his family is AD?  Why is he untouchable?  He has completely destroyed the Mercer program in the last 3 years.
