  • People in the know could clarify this more, but I do believe they endured some key injuries as well.  At most high schools, that impacts the W/L greatly.  The next man up isn't always the answer to wi

Foley was a big time name last time when Russell was open. He's a Russell grad and has a lot of ties to the era. When Southwestern was going on the run the last few years they were pulling a lot of Russell Co kids over to SW.

There could be nothing there. I think French has done a great job and there'd be no reason to get rid of him IMO, but just saying if they were to I think they'd go back in that direction. And with Southwestern being 1-9 staring 1-10 in the face, he may take it this time around.

Didn't realize Foley was a Russell Co. grad.  Thanks !

I have heard their admin is a pain to work with. That used to be a solid program.

You have no idea! Its awful!

He's 9-13 and has had a disappointing second half of the season, but he needs another season or two.  They won 1 game the season before he took over.  Needs a chance.

I believe they lost some key players to injuries this year. Steven and staff have them going in the right direction. Especially now that they are keeping their players from traveling East and/or NW every morning.

Heard Frankfort High and Western Hills are both “looking” for a new coach. Can anyone confirm?

That is correct.

Southwestern is one to keep an eye on I would think. I think the natives are a bit restless there and the Warriors may be on the way to a hard luck 1-win season but even worse I don't think their fans feel they have a bumper crop of talent waiting to emerge in the underclassmen ranks.

Here is the path they are on now:

2022- Started 13-0 before losing in the Semi-Finals.

2023- Respectable 9-4 losing in the Region Finals.

2024- Notable step back to 7-6 but still reached the Regional Finals.

2025- Staring down 1-9 if they lose to Rockcastle County.

I could see one more year as this is a team heavy with Juniors, but their offense has really struggled to find an identity and their defense does have several Seniors and has struggled most of the season. With the schedule they play and their District mates all seemingly either surging or sustaining I would probably expect another losing record in 2026.

Maybe you've got to ask yourself why SW has had 7 DC's in 6 years under their HC? Or maybe you should ask yourself why nobody wants to play for the orange and blue right now? How are you a 5A school with some tradition, and it is getting harder and harder to field a roster of 35 kids.

I think eventually you have to look at the man running the program and ask yourself, why does nobody want to be there? I think most people will come to a similar conclusion.

Caverna head coaching job is open

Last week, multiple jobs opened. Some expected, others not. Right now, I would think John Hardin and Montgomery County are the top choices of the available openings, depending on what you're looking for. Going into Thanksgiving Week, who else do we expect to open?

It isn't posted on their school website yet. Was it posted elsewhere?

If I were St X, I’d consider a call to Matt Jones at KCD as well.

I don't really see the St. X faithfuls and students rallying around that offense KCD runs. Unfortunately, even with all the success it has brought in 1A, it could definitely become tough to get kids interested to come out comparatively to Trinity's offense right down the road.

I was under the impression that Nick Baisch was brought on with the intention of becoming the head coach. He left LexCath HC job to come, so I figured that was a given?

Wouldn't surprise me if he's the next coach. Guess we'll know soon if that's the case or not.

They need to get Justin Haddix on the phone.
