  6. Two stand out for me, the Highlands loss to St. X in 2005, which I believe was 45-0 before weather moved in and mercifully allowed the game to be cancelled. The other was the 45-6 playoff game at Rockcastle in 2002.
  7. WHAT?! WHAT?! SORRY, ALL I CAN HEAR IS "CRAZY TRAIN"! CAN YOU WRITE IT DOWN FOR ME?! Okay, joking a bit. Just a bit.

  9. :ohbrother:Sorry, I mis-read that then. I thought it was Hergott to Hoge.
  10. Boyle-LexCath? :idunno: If ever there was a definition of a regional rivalry, that would be it. Highlands and CovCath meet every year in November. Boyle and LexCath meet when Boyle makes it that far, and Boyle hasn't won that game since 2010. As rivalries go, that one takes a back seat to Highlands-CovCath, even with the current CovCath losing streak. At least CovCath is there when it counts.
  11. More tentative. Less sure of himself in pressure situations. Very good athlete, and physically he is just what you're looking for at the position, but the intangibles add up. I think he was the kind of QB that needs a dominating running game to allow him to shine. Highlands had a more balanced attack that depended on him more than he was truly capable of delivering against quality opponents. Friday was not his fault. He played well, as good as could be expected, and likely good enough to win had a couple of key plays worked out. Pulaski was very good and won a game that reminded me of the Highlands-Owensboro final last year. Congrats to them and best of luck in BG.

  16. How do you figure? They're the defending state champ and sport a shiny 12-1 record. The only thing they don't have going in their favor is the long ride and playing at DCMS. Trying to play the underdog card doesn't show proper respect for what they've accomplished. I don't think Highlands has ever gone on the road thinking they were facing an uphill battle, even when they went to Rockcastle and got waxed.
  17. This. Highlands players don't want to be the ones to stop the streak. CovCath players do. Might not mean much to the rest of the state, but here it remains a big deal.
  18. I can understand doing that at Beechwood based on the proximity of the two schools, but Highlands is a longer drive and it seems that would work against them. Odd.
  19. I think Eviston has the ship righted in a couple of years. When CovCath got the ball and started driving tonight when it was 13-7, I thought the momentum was all with them to start the turnaround, but the turnovers ruled. Credit to Highlands for taking advantage of them. Lots of fight in that Colonel squad. They'll be fine. Highlands might be fine as well, though.
