One thing has changed , Coach Wirth wants to play on Fridays. Also almost all of the parents and players I have talked to favor playing on Fridays. There are just to many conflicts on Saturdays to have good attendance. I know on 3 or 4 home games, there were conflicts with other school events and others parents had to choose between which kids game to attend. Also all sports teams are supported by the boosters and not tuition.

So true I believe the score was 19-15 with about 5 minutes to in the quarter. CovCath only got off a couple of shots the last 5 minutes.

Other than Wellbrock & Thelen noone even looks to score. I do not know how many times CovCath pass the ball around for 30 to 40 seconds only to turn it over, there gaurds passing up shots .IMO CovCath plays much better up tempo and with Connelly in the line up. SHOOT THE BALL PS. So much for everyone saying how they were going home to watch Kentucky win.

Much closer game, except for the start of the 4th quarter this game was even. In the 2 games I have watch Holmes play, they live by the outside shot. If they have a bad night shooting, they could be in trouble. Loved the starting 5 for CovCath tonight, I think Connelly gives them a little more energy.If CovCath could become a so-so shooting team from the outside they would become a force in the regionals. They still past up alot of open shots. Holmes made more 3's than CovCath attempted.

IF Pike does play QB, which I believe he will,does he still play defense. In my opinion,he was there best defensive of player. I know alot of 1A & 2A QB's play both ways, but I do not think it would work at the 5A &6A level. Pike is a running QB, who may run 15 times a game. I do not think he would last if he played both ways

CovCath may be the worst shooting team I have ever seen. I believe they did not make a shoot greater than 5 feet. The gaurds play scared,they appear as they do not want the ball. They need someone to start taking a outside shoot, even if that person is a Jr, or Soph. They are playing 5 against 2

One question that has not come up,will Spritzky be coaching next year. There has been rumors for a couple of months that he was going to retire. I have not heard anything lately, but a couple of Dixie people, I know where saying Brossart will be taking over. A coaching change could have a bigger impact than who will be back next year.

Forgot about Ben, yes he will be the hardest player to replace. The other seniors Morrison,Kramer,Couch,Geison were all good players. They showed if given a change they could play, however I believe they will be easier to replace. See POST #25

They lose 3 on each side of the ball. The biggest lost will be Connaughton, but his little brother will replace him. Tim Connaughton could be even a better tackle than Kevin if he works as hard in the off season. The other positions, the juniors and sophmores were about the same as the starting seniors, but they will have a year in the system and other will run off season. The juniors and soph. line all got playing time during the sesaon, so next year they will be new starters they will not rookies. CovCath has 6 players they have to replace. Erpenbeck, Connaughton, Robinson, Garnick,Martin and Deglow.

I think he is number #1 on the charts, but lots of questions.

If CovCath can find a QB, they will do very well. They will be very deep a running back, and return who I believe will be the best reviever in NKY, in Connelly. They must replace both O and D lines, but that can be done. Defense will be a question, but QB is the key .

I have been told that Dixie could be moving up to 6A. They have had an enrollment increase, do not know if true. If it happens, then it would be logical for CovCath and Highlands to play 5A.

I believe this is the first time JC has to make that long bus ride to NKY. If you look at how Nky teams have played down there,they do not play as well in first half, as the second. In 2006 CovCath pulls away in the second half, Highlands last year. This year CovCath offensive does not really get going untill the second half, but had dug themself a deep hole. If JC has a slow start, they will get blown out. JC lives with the QB getting to the outside, but Highlands team speed will prevent that. Roller will control the middle, preventing the dives from breaking any big plays. But I feel to many people are under estimating that drive.

2009team was a better overall football team. The 09 team would beat the 08 team 6 to 7 out 10. I was talking with a group of CovCath fans inculding parents from the 08 team, about who from the 08 team would we like have back. We came up with 3 kids, VanSant, Deters, and Hearn. The 09 team had great senior leadership that show up in the no quit play on the field. The 08 team would have lost Dixie being down by 14, but 09 did there jobs and won the game.The CovCath QB played the first two games with a seperated shoulder, which did have an affected on the out come of the game.I believe that if CovCath plays LexCath in week 4 or 5 they would win. If you would compare the general feelings of parents and palyers after both Johnson Centeral games, the 08 game was one of no hope and anger. After the 09 game, there was disappointment but hope and can not wait for next year. No there is no comparasion between the two teams.

Remember JC is making that long bus ride to NKY. I do not care how good you are, that bus ride takes something out of you.

You can throw on them. LB's must do there jobs,tackle the QB on every play. JC plays into Highlands strength, team speed. I do not know how durable the QB is, plays both ways and returns kicks. I believe this is second week he got hurt, got his bell rung against us. As long as he layed on the field, most likely should not have returned. If you get a 2 score lead, game is yours to loss.

It has not been mentioned, but CovCath had a lot on people missing on defense. To stop JC, you need your LB to play big. CovCath was starting 3 soph's, some who were did not see playing time untill St. X Two of the defensive lineman were also missing. The no Interference call took the wind out of CovCath sails. CovCath QB plays about half the 4th quarter with an injuried throwing shoulder. CovCath's inexperience on defense showed up big time on Friday. Do not have a high opinion of the JC coach,sent a blank tape for CovCath to review, and from what I heard from the other teams in the district, this is not usual. The other district team where more than willing help with game tapes.

Fot the first time and most likely the last time in my life, I will be cheering for the Birds. I have one question for Highlands, was your JC game tape blank also. for the last time " GO BIRDS"

CovCath was very flat today. Lots of dropped passes. Gray is now the No. 1 running back, great game. CovCath did want it had to do, but the defense has to step up.

They were also missing Nienabar. They lost all 3 players late in the week and had no practice time with the backups. Would not have change the game outcome, but did have a impact on the score.

Was behind the CovCath bench during the game, and I saw the ref aleast 4 times tell Dixie to get back and that was just in the firat half. The flag could have been thrown anytime after first warning and the head coach ejected after third time.
