Highlands is 3A playing in 5A. Is that correct?

Somerset is 2A playing in 3A.

Uh, I know Johnson Central would have won the 5A this year instead of the more likely team Highlands. Its just not fair that little ole Highlands is playing up in 5A when they could play 3A instead. Something wrong with your argument my friend or what you are calling it "curious":thumb:

HHS is now a 4A team but they like CovCath play up. As I have been posting for the last couple of months, look for both to move down when the next KHSAA restructure takes place!

I'd bet on it as Highlands is officially 4A now as well as CovCath who has been 4A for awhile now. Scott's student population is dropping and right now I believe is sub-1000 and they are now considered 4A. Holmes is also 4A and they dropped down this year after being in the 5A district with HHS, CovCath, Scott, and Dixie. So basically the whole NKY district (outside of Holmes who moved to 4A this year from this district), only Dixie seems to remain a 5A school. So more than likely this whole district could potentially be moved to 4A next year. Just saying....

I believe Ashland is one of the smallest 5A schools in terms of enrollment. It is my understanding that the Tomcats will be playing in 4A in 2011.

I'm assuming MLC will be 4A when they open next year; not sure when Shelby County will actually make the move, but they'll be 4A in numbers next season.

Which is one of the reasons why Highlands may not be a 4A size school when the KHSAA re-aligns. New schools opening and schools growing faster than Highlands may mean Highlands is a 3A size school when the KHSAA next looks at re-alignment. If that is the case and if the KHSAA still permits geographically isolated teams to move up, my guess is that the KHSAA will not allow Highlands to move up to 5A, but will only allow them to move up to 4A and be in a district with CovCath, Holmes, and possibly Scott (if they are a 4A size school). If Scott isn't a 4A size school, my guess is that Pendleton County would be the 4th team in the district unless there is another 4A school closer. In any event, if I was a betting man, and I am not, I'd bet that Highlands is in 4A after the next realignment. Of course the KHSAA could mess up that bet if Highlands is a 3A size school and the KHSAA no longer permits teams to move up. That would be a huge mistake by the KHSAA. Is there likely to be another 3A size school in all of N. Ky after the next re-alignment?

Russellville is a 1A school playing up to 3A.

Lawrence Co should be 3A. I look for them to be at least 3 when the new alignment comes out.
