Elliott County Lions Basketball
Wireman--great story. I also will never forget when Maynard hit that three against Mason last year and the buzz all around me in Rupp. Here's hoping for some more electric moments next month in Rupp!!!:ylsuper:

Elliott County 73 East Carter 68
Yes, it was packed to the rafters and folks standing everywhere. Had to be close to 2,500. I got to the game at 4:50PM (2 hrs 10 min before tip off) and there was a line with about 200 people in it. If you won't front row kinda like Midnight Madness at UK. Bring a tent and set it up by the front doors the night before. Amazing to me that Elliott is bringing this many fans from such a small county. If you did a calculation on county population to # of fans in attendance this has to be the highest % of any team in the state. By the way most of those in line were Elliott fans. If Elliott makes it back to Rupp Sandy Hook and the county will be like a ghost town.

Elliott County Front Page ESPN
Thanks Eta for the gracious remarks. I think among the fans of the top teams there is a healthy respect which is great for KY HS Basketball. Fans are going to see some fantastic performances in Rupp Arena with (I am predicting) the possible teams of Scott County, your multi-talented Holmes team, Shelby Valley, & Ballard/Eastern/J-Town. Scott County & Holmes are full of D-1 talent and are going to be tough on anyone & everyone. Shelby Valley has great size and talent inside and Justice is fabulous. Elliott can compete but all cylinders must be firing in precision against this array of talent that may be assembled in Rupp. Good luck to your Bulldogs who are a great HS Basketball Team. I believe the fans are going to see the greatest show in Hoops on display next month in downtown Lexington.

Elliott County 73 East Carter 68
Great game by both teams IMO. East had Elliott on the ropes a few times, but like any good prize fighter the champs roared back with a response. Too bad East waited til the end of the season to start playing ball. IMO they are clearly the 2d best team in the region and if not for such a poor start this season we would have seen East in the district final and the region final just like last year. I don't know what % East shot from trey land, but a bet pretty darn good. Bair nailed three long balls and Jackson had a few. Again, don't know the percentages but East had to have a high shooting %. Balanced scoring by the Lions with the Faulkners and Ferg all with 16 and both Knipps with 11 apiece. Jared Flannery delivered a big three off the bench tonight. IMO the most difficult and odds stacked against you game in getting to Rupp was played tonight. East always picks one game and plays Elliott extremely tough. This year it was the district game. Congrads to my Lions as you take one more step forward in reaching your goal.

Anyone know the dates for the semis and finals of specific regions?
16th region has the same schedule as the 11th above (Boy's only)

Maxpreps Rankings 2/23
First Cantrall has Holmes at #12 and now MaxPreps has Shelby Valley at #16. If you ask me all these polls are out of whack and have gone off the deep end. I guess they should caveat their rankings with something like this. So and so is ranked #10, but margin of error is a plus or minus 10. That means they are somewhere between #1 and #20. Throw them all in the trash can because we will find out just around the corner so to speak.

Courier-Journal Article on Elliott County
Better get his facts straight before he goes shooting down Elliott County students and athletes. From what I read Rep Adkins scored a slam dunk on this guy with his response!!!

Elliott County 80 Lawrence County 65
Those 3 are a dynamic scoring trio much like the Boy's have the F Troop. Boy's have the 2 Faulkner's and Ferg. Girl's have the 2 Ferguson's and Griffith. Those 3 putting up 74 pts. against Lawrence is impressive and should worry some 16th region coaches.

Congrads to the Lady Lions on the win streak and with each win a new record. Lady Lions are 18-8. Look forward to watching you march forward beginning on Monday night in Grayson. Stay focused and keep playing hard and you have a chance to advance deeper than you ever imagined!!! You are coming together just at the right time!!!

Franklin County 61 Anderson County 52
It was a very wild atmosphere last night with the police escorting several people from the gym. The emotions were running high on both sides of the court and some were going way over the line thus getting escorted out. One guy up where I was sitting was even arguing with the police who were trying to be patient. I thought the guy was going to get body slammed and cuffed. It's just a game folks, but it seems some fans were out for blood last night. May cooler heads prevail in the future.

Franklin County 61 Anderson County 52
doomer thanks for the correction on the name. Whatever his name I sure like the way that young man played. He is a gamer and along with Connor, Meyers, Donovan, Hicks, and big Oakley makes for a nice FC team. Good luck to the Flyers. PS I know Andy and Barrett from AAU summer ball where they played with the F Troop from Elliott and Richie Phares. Andy and Barrett are both nice players and great young men. These young men are all good friends.

Franklin County 61 Anderson County 52
Went to this game before a packed house. FC jumped out on top early 11-2 and never looked back. Held the lead at about 10-14 points most of the game. AC a few times cut it down to 5 pts., but FC would get it back to double figures. Franklin moves the ball really well and tonight shot good from the outside. Barrett and Donovan shot the three ball well. Donovan had some big threes down the stretch. Never heard of the kid named Lance Hall for FC, but a nice player who is steady and gets the job done. Penny probably had about 27 pts. for AC. Maybe someone has the box score?? Penny also had some nice blocks and a big time slam on a fast break. Good win for FC. Scott County has an off night and these guys can beat them. FC is a nice looking team and they move the ball really well and have some shooters.

Mason County 60 Bryan Station 41
Wow!! The 19 point spread in the Defender's House is a surprise. Bryan Station seems to be unraveling at a bad time with post season right here. Mason or GRC in the 10th?? Pick one. To close to call. Congrads to Mason on a great performance in Lexington!!!

Who's the best shooter?
Ferg is not only the best shooter in the state because of his high percentages and career/season scoring, but because of his range. I have seen him hit many a shot from the star in the Kentucky symbol on Elliott's home court. That star is closer to half court than the three point line. These were not final buzzer shots, but shots in the normal offense where many said oh no and then said oh yes. I played HS ball and thought I shot pretty good my self. After the games I would go out and stand on the star. It looks like a mile to the basket from there. He also has hit incredible long range shots with 2 defenders hanging all over him. The word used is riduculous by several college coaches especially after the South Charleston game when talking to them on the court after that game was over.

Who will win the 8th Region?
Anderson will make its first trip to Rupp since 1997. Then they get a second shot at Elliott County on Thursday night in Rupp.

Elliott County vs East Carter 62nd District
In what should be the toughest game in getting back to Rupp I think Elliott will win 78-63. Close game at the half and Elliott pulls away in the third quarter and leads by double figures going into the fourth quarter. Lead gets to 18 points in the 4th quarter before the final score.
-
Anderson County @ Franklin County (2/20)
Two very good teams among the best in the state. I think this will go down to the wire with Franklin winning 67-66. CJ Penny will have a big game with 29 pts. and 14 rebounds.

Who thinks Elliott County's run at state is legit?
I prefer to take them one at a time. East Carter is the mountain standing in the way of any further hopes or dreams. East is the one team over the last three years (in the 16th region) that has beaten them or played them really close. District is at East. Concentrate on the 25 meter target and not the 300 meter target. Try this thread again on March 17th when we know who the 16 teams are. We could all be shocked at who makes up the field.

West Jessamine 68 Henry Clay 65
Polson had been putting up big numbers after Christmas?? I and many others are asking who is this guy?? I think it is time we ventured over and took a look. And he has been doing it against pretty good teams. Seems as if he came out of nowhere and arrived on the scene.

Also you have to be relatively still ,calm, and stationary to operate the camera. Dale doesn't exactly meet those conditions during the game!!:clap:

Who will be the all state players and who will be Mr. Basketball?
Ferg had 34 pts. against Ballard (and 4 treys in the 2d half I believe which counted for 12 pts. and the 4 dunks counted 8 pts.) That's only 19 more points than Pittman, but pretty close. Have read the 170+ posts on this thread and bit my tongue a hundred times, but can be silenced no longer. After reading this novel I can only reach one conclusion. Pittman and the Johnson Brothers will not play college ball, but instead be NBA Lottery picks right out of HS. UK had the unforgettables and I guess this trio should be called the untouchables. Rico would shut Ferg completely down. We should see in the next few weeks possibly on a saturday morning collision in Rupp!!!

Adair County 56 Bardstown 52 (OT)
I think the 5th Region is a 4 dog race with North Hardin, Adair County, Taylor County, and Bardstown.

Who will win the 12th Region?
West Jessamine wins the 12th

BGP Rankings 2-17
Westsider--your reverse arguments are fine except the one about how tough it is to play at Mason. Yes it is tough at Mason and I do remember the game EC had there last year (can one forget??) I also remember Mason having a guy named Miller and a 6'7" shooter named Trevor Setty that are not there this year and we are talking about this year's rankings. If the point is that Mason is a tough place to play then I agree, but last year's game doesn't have anything to do with this year's analysis of the top teams. The schedule of most of the 7th and 11th region teams is by nature of where they reside always tougher. Should we play Ballard and Mason one more time to validate our wins??
