  1. Goldie--Sorry, I am late, but hadn't been on this thread in a few days. Saw Zollo pre-season vs. Elliott, Scott Co. on TV, and the Doss game at Bourbon. Admit they were early on games and he may have been adjusting. My understanding is that Rogers was also playing well early and not putting up the same numbers as of late. Rogers, Stenzel, and Zollo are all good young players getting better. At this point Robbie stands out more IMO. He can really shot and score some big numbers when he is on his game. In the early games I hadn't seen his (Robbie's) kind of explosiveness in Vinny.
  2. Has Danville even been to the All A State before?? If so, I can't remember when?? Seems every year it is always Somerset in the past?? I am almost positive Burgin has never been before??
  3. Rose Hill now on a 6 game winning streak after starting 6-5. If those freshman keep improving they may soon pass West Carter as the #2 seed in the region. Terry and Gregg with 56 points is an impressive showing. If Metz could have scored 56 by himself then Bath might have won?? Maybe Demling will go back and re-publish his NEW TOP FRESHMAN LIST??
  4. Spindoc--Rose Hill gets the most improved team award at this point. I saw Terry & Gregg the other night and was impressed with those freshman. Just trying to put things into the proper perspective and I know you're not surprised by any little EC comment I slip in. Always thinking ahead :thumb:
  5. Who were the top scorers?? Terry and Gregg?? Metz for Bath??
  6. That means Rose Hill outscored Bath 53-29 in the 2d half. Some half for them. They will need two halves like that on Friday and will have to do it against a tougher defense than Bath's.
  7. After seeing Rose Hill vs. Raceland I was more impressed with the freshman Gregg who had 24 points. Both are nice players, but Gregg was more impressive in that particular game. Gregg is about 6'3"-6'4" plays really aggressive, and appears to be a real strong kid for just a freshman.
  8. Eta--Congrads to the Bulldogs who keep on keeping on. I really think they will enter Rupp with one loss. A few more close games somewhere?? Probably but close being 6-7 points. Don't know much about Largo (other than they are real good) so that is the mystery game.
  9. Same here duck. Also talked with Coach Cooksey and very nice gentleman. Good luck to Fairview the rest of the season and here is hoping Collins and Jackson are back at full strength soon. I'm sure we will see a much different Fairview squad when those two are back at 100%. I am a people person and enjoy meeting nice folks like yourself. One thing we all have in common--we are brothers and sisters in this great land called---America. My best wishes for Fairview.:thumb:
  10. Look I love this team and follow them with a passion. But, I have seen to much basketball and so many upsets and shockers that you can't take any game for granted. When EC doesn't play their best the games can be very competitive down to the wire i.e. West Carter and Anderson County. If and If is a big word, they play like they do about 95% of the time they will beat any all A team by double figures. Also, if it is a lopsided game it will only be in Elliott's favor. Any team that beats EC in the state of KY it will only be by the points on one hand. Shelby Valley or Hazard could be 1 or 2 point games in OT, but those teams are not going to win by much no matter how bad we play. But, even when not playing or shooting that well these guys find a way in the end to usually pull something out of the tank. That something is competitiveness, desire, and the will not to lose despite things not going the right way. That something is also 100s of games of experience and playing together coupled with maturity and composure. They will have to bring their A game and Elliott will have to play their D game for a down to the wire finish. Also, Fairview was without the top 2 players in Collins and Jackson. That makes a difference for any team. How much of a difference no one can say unless we meet a healthy Fairview again in Johnson Arena.
  11. The best two I have seen have been T. Knipp and Stenzel at GRC. Have not seen Shanklin/Fant with Warren Central or Stroud with Fairdale. Have seen Barksdale at Tates Creek and not overly impressed with him. Rogers (GRC) and Setty (Mason) I was more impressed with than Zollo.
  12. I think we've had this discussion many times before. My vote then and now goes with Ethan Faulkner. He is a quarterback and coach on the floor. Tremendous passer on the move full speed, can finish at the rack or pull up and hit the jumper, plays whirlwind defense, and is the most spirited competitive young man you will find. Also a tremendous rebounder for a 6'1" guard. Hits clutch shots down the stretch and clutch free throws down the stretch. He is a tremendous leader on the floor. Have I seen the others mentioned. Yes, all of them several times and my vote still goes with ET FALK............................
  13. I never buy a hard copy paper, but in this case I picked up the Courier Journal about an hour ago. Great article on these guys and this will go in the scrapbook. I started following them Dec 07 and knew then that they were something special. Yes I am from Garrard County, but much like Joe B. this is my favorite HS team of all time going back to the late 60s. I have only missed two games this year and will probably only miss one more at the very most. I would drive 500 miles round trip to watch these young men play. Heck I did it driving to Myrtle Beach. No matter what they score, how far behind, or badly they are shooting they still think they will win. That showed when they were 17 down to AC and 18 down to Cedar Hills. Their determination, resolve, mental toughness, playing together as a team, relentless full court pressure, team shooting from downtown, and constant pushing of the ball is unlike any HS team I have seen in 40 years. Holmes or Scott County or some other top ranked team may beat them, but they will have to bring their best shot and then before the game is over may have to bring it a second time. These guys don't ever quit and never believe it is over. There is always a run or a bunch of runs coming sometime before the clock hits 0:00.
  14. Fleming said it was too cold. It would have heated up nice in the gym, but they probably didn't want none of that heat!!! This is going to be a problem the rest of the year. Some of these teams will look out the window and see a few small snow flakes and say, "It is just too slick and we can't make it". In retrospect it would have probably been better to schedule the Lexington Catholics, Bryan Stations, Holmes, Scott County's etc. as these teams would have not cancelled. If I was a 16th region team I wouldn't want to take an old fashioned backside kicking either. Whole lot more fun staying home in the heated living room and watching TV.
  15. Ferg is defended all the time by a player usually taller than him. He is just over 6'1". He didn't have any problems raining threes from all over on 6'4'" Aaron Dobson of South Charleston who is rated the top player in the state of West Virginia for the top team in West Virginia. Dobson is very long and athletic. In that game sometimes he had two big guys running at him and buried them from way beyond the arc. Eight of them with 5 in the third quarter alone that buried South Charleston. He didn't even play but the first 2 minutes of the 4th quarter cause the game was over. Pemberton is not near as athletic as Dobson, so I can't buy the tall thing.
  16. With a healthy Justice SV is a load for any team in the state including Holmes, Scott County, or Elliott. With him healthy they beat HC by 37, Ashland by 53, Walton, GA by 21. Plus they are very big on the inside. They lost some games with Justice out or hurt and have dropped from the Top 10. With a healthy Justice they are a Top 5 team IMO. Who do you drop out?? I don't know, but they are co number 4, 5, 6, or 7 with somebody IMO.
  17. East will win but only by 7-8 points. I have seen East several times this year and last and they are not as good as last year. Drew Johnson brought a lot of intangibles besides scoring and that is a big difference. Barnhill, Kawada, and Pemberton are tall on the inside, but it doesn't translate very well on the court. Elliott beat them by 22 in their gym and just played so so in the 2d half after a poor first half. If Ferg would have put up a bunch of threes and hit what he normally does it would have been a 35 point win. Ferg had 20, but really a very silent 20 with only 2-6 trey shooting.
  18. EC girl's are now 4-0 in the district. Heard Shae (Ferguson) had a big game with 36 or 37 points and that the other Ferguson (Kelsey) young lady had a nice game also from the point. By the way, Shae did nothing to hurt her current spot as the 4th leading girl's scorer in the state at 22.2ppg. WAY TO PLAY SHAE!!!! :dancingpa
  19. Not sure about the actual hard copy paper since I hardly ever buy a paper. I use all the on-line paperless papers. Demling's blog was posted yesterday so it would have to be yesterday or the morning's paper. Since I haven't bought an actual Courier Journal in a long time I don't know if his blogs are in the paper or not?? Anyone else help eccheer out??
  20. I'll take Bryan Station if Morones is playing. If not, Scott County by 5 points. Saw Morones against Holmes a few weeks ago and the kid can score and shoot the trey ball. He played much better than Ashford, but that was just one night.
  21. I predict the Ads will be playing in Richmond very shortly.
  22. Maybe not so close after all. Danville picked up another big win over a good Adair County team tonight and Burgin got blasted at home by West Jessamine.
  23. How did Ballou play?? Does anybody have the box score or details of the game??
  24. Congrads to the young Ads. Two big take downs in a row. Just think if they still had senior Leonard Macon?? Looks like they are on their way without him. Young team is really coming on........
  25. My pick also. The tourney is at Burgin in what should be a close game. Burgin has beat Mercer (at Mercer) and is better than most think. If they were to win if would probably be their first trip to EKU for the state. Probably the smallest school to ever make the tourney with only about 120 students in High School.
