  1. F Troop from Elliott are all 3 All-State Caliber players. But, don't think there is room for all three of them?? Just like all 3 could make the KY All-Star team in April tryouts. Again, don't know if there is room for all three or if three players from one team has ever made the All-Star team??
  2. Two best sophomores in the state are Timmy Knipp and Robbie Stenzel. IMO these two set themselves apart from the rest of that class. And I agree that Timmy Knipp has the biggest upside. He is 6'7" and can go inside and dunk on you, or he can shoot the three ball as evidenced by an earlier game where he had 31 points and shot 6-9 from trey land. He can handle the ball, run the court, has excellent range, and has an assortment of offensive moves around the basket. He also changes many games with his inside presence through blocks and altered shots. He will be a major D-1 player in the future.
  3. I also commented in the Boy's Thread, but I will say this. Shae can shoot, but also has some excellent offensive moves especially the spin move and what I call the bob and weave moves to free herself for a shot. She is a very smooth offensive player who had refined her skills and is an excellent ball handler & passer also. YOU ROCK SHAE!!! :dancingpa
  4. Elliott Girl's are playing well now and went 11-0 in February after finishing the end of January with a record of 9-8. Fleming was part of that February roll and I see no different result on Tues. night. Elliott girl's win this one by 14 points.
  5. Yes, Russell beat Elliott @ Russell by 3 on Jan. 2d. Also Elliott lost at Rowan County on Jan. 5th by 19 points. Elliott County is much improved and went 11-0 in February. Elliott should beat Fleming and Russell setting up a final with Rowan County. Have they improved enough to have a chance to win inside the final minute of the game & just how much have they improved??That question IMO cannot be answered right now, but will be on Friday night.
  6. Elliott is on a direct mission now to win 7 games in a row. Russell will have little say in re-directing that mission. Elliott didn't cut the nets down at East Carter. They are only interested in one set of nets that are hanging in downtown Lexington right now. I have believed for 2 years now that they will cut those nets down. Guess what?? Still believe it today.
  7. Been a joy watching Shae and Jonathan play the game. One thing both of them can do and that is flat out shoot the basketball. Both have been a huge part in taking Elliott County Basketball to places it has never been before and may never be again for some time. Congrads to both on outstanding careers. The most important thing--two super nice polite and outstanding young Americans who are a joy to be around!! CONGRADS TO JONATHAN AND SHAE!! YOU BOTH ARE SUPER!!!
  8. I hope it works out that way. Or even Elliott/Fairview in the final. Don't want to play West for the 4th time. Lets get a team we haven't played in the final (Bath). Really haven't played the real Fairview either. They were without Jackson and Collins in the All A at Frenchburg.
  9. Girl's drew at 9AM and the Boy's right after the Girl's finished.
  10. Also the 2d at 10:00AM (11AM eastern time), 11th at Noon, and 15th at 11AM.
  11. Like many of us in Central and Eastern KY don't ever know much about these far WKY teams til we see them in the Sweet Sixteen. Have always liked the Tilghman teams at Rupp and that catchy nickname-The Blue Tornado.
  12. Somebody had the audacity to tell me the other day to get a life. I said during this time of the year I have one--HS Basketball and HS Basketball!!!
  13. Didn't know the order--either way we should have them both before much longer. We are all like kids wanting to open the presents sitting under the tree.
  14. Draw started at 9:00AM. They should be about completed in Morehead. Hopefully someone will posts them on here in the next 30 minutes or so.16th had the earliest meeting time today of the 5 regions that draw today vs. tomorrow.
  15. I have realized that all along, not sure others have. Plus they only have one in state loss and I believe he was hurt against Knott County Central. I love my Lions, but I also really like this bunch at the Valley and especially Justice who I think is one of the best guards in the state. There are a lot of good guards, but he ranks right with the best of the best. Kid is Super!!!!
  16. Franklin County will be a factor and can challenge them also.
  17. This makes more sense to me plus draws in more $$$$. We will find out tomorrow morning with the draw and times set.
  18. The Valley has now won 20 in a row I believe. This is most certainly a Top 5 team and I see an Elliott-Valley downright war coming on Friday night March 20th in Rupp. Valley is very good, but they won't see the same Elliott they saw in Richmond if they meet again. Congrads to Shelby Valley on an outstanding season by an outstanding team.
  19. Elliott was up 31 in the 3d quarter and the game was never in doubt. They really didn't play like their capable of playing. If EC had played like they did against Ballard they would have been up 51 in the 3d quarter. BigSpikes prediction of 98-54 is what it should have been. Not complaining by no means because they clearly dominated the game. On a scale from 1 to 10 with the Ballard game being a 9 this was a score of 6. Anderson a score of 4.Shelby Valley and Cedar Hills would get a score of 2. Hopefully those last two are long out of the system now. Congrads Boys on 4 straight district championships and now the quest for 3 straight 16th region crowns begins.
  20. Congrads to the Lady Lions on their first district title, a 20 win season, and 11th straight win of the season. They are really playing well and shooting well right now and will be tough out in the regional next week. I believe they still have a few more firsts for Lady Lions Basketball before the season is over.
  21. BigSpikes--Pretty large margin there?? Must be trying to get some dialogue going?? The last 6 quarters that Elliott has played West they have only outscored them by a total of 12 points. I would think 12-18 points would be a safer pick?? But, one thing for sure, if it is lopsided it will only be in one team's favor. Elliott would have to be clicking on all cylinders, but they have had a few games were they have been. Tournament atmosphere and pretty full house makes the conditions tough to blow them out though.
  22. I'll take Fairview 72-66. Fairview has too much offensive firepower in Jackson and Collins.
  23. These young men have won 22 straight district games and 26 straight region games. They have also won 44 of the last 45 region games spanning the last three seasons. Remarkable!!! How can one pick against that?? Last District loss--Dec. 19th, 2006 to East Carter 58-57 (F Troop Soph year) Last Region loss--Jan. 21, 2008 to Rose Hill in All A 62-55 (F Trp Jr. year) Last Region loss before that--Feb. 20, 2007 @ Russell 66-56. (F Trp Soph year) They have also won 7 straight District Tournament games. Last district tournament loss for the F Troop was their 8th grade year.
  24. I had the opportunity this summer to see many of the games and I consider it a blessing and all part of this incredible ride. I know they are fun to watch and I'm sure a coach's joy to coach. These kids have such positive attitudes both on and off the court. I agree that they are overachievers who defy the odds and quit is not in their vocabulary. They are role models for all the young Lions coming behind them and I'm sure they will make huge impacts in the community many years after they graduate. By the way, it has been good seeing you at many of the games this year. I know you love those young men and are pulling for them each night out. They capture a special place in one's heart for us all.
