BaseballIsLife Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'd have Elliot switch places with Lexington Catholic but other than that it doesn't look too bad.
TheSecondComing Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I would move some teams around a little bit with a finished top 10 looking like this: 1. Scott County 2. Holmes 3. Eastern 4. Elliott County 5. Shelby Valley 6. Jeffersontown 7. Franklin County 8. Ballard 9. Corbin 10. Anderson County I should probably date these my 2-18 rankings moving Franklin County to 7th after last night.
Eta Rho Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm not surprised at all that Holmes didn't drop in the rankings considering their only losses are the second game of the year on Dec 5th and then to top 10 Boone on the road. IMO Scott Co, Holmes, and Eastern are the top 3 teams in the state RIGHT NOW. I'd probably include EC in my top 5 though...right around #4 or #5.
Lion Mania Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Certainly don't understand how Lexington Catholic is ranked above Elliott?? They have lost 7 games and the Mason game went into overtime. We handled Mason by double figures. Our two losses haven't exactly been to Bugtusle HS and Possum Trot HS. Must be the name and tradition. Elliott doesn't have those two on its side. Debated to even post. Rankings are somewhat like playing the lottery. Really don't care if Elliott is ranked #15 because they have to play them out on the floor one by one. One way to look at it is the lower the ranking the smaller the bullseye.

Just thinking about it those 2 teams would be an interesting matchup. LexCath presses 2-2-1 all game and is very aggressive with it. That would be an interesting matchup. I agree with you though, Elliott should be ahead of LexCath.

I know I've stated numerous times that they shouldn't be rated over Corbin, but I'm finished with that argument, but to have Lexington Catholic rated higher than Elliott County? You've got to be kidding me.
mcpapa Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 1. Scott County 2. Eastern 3. Elliott County 4. Holmes 5. Shelby Valley 6. Franklin County 7. Jeffersontown 8. Ballard 9. Boone County 10. Anderson County
mcpapa Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 The next tier, in no particular order (well, maybe alphabetical): Bryan Station, Clark County, Corbin, Lexington Catholic, Mason County, Trinity, Warren Central.
RA09 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 People seem to forget that Elliott County also beat Anderson County earlier, who is in the top 10 now.
Log Mountain Boy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 People seem to forget that Elliott County also beat Anderson County earlier, who is in the top 10 now. Anderson was definitly underrated to start the year, but are overrated now. I don't know why they would be ranked ahead of Franklin Co, Clark Co, or Mason Co.
Eta Rho Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 1. Scott County 2. Eastern 3. Elliott County 4. Holmes 5. Shelby Valley 6. Franklin County 7. Jeffersontown 8. Ballard 9. Boone County 10. Anderson County Switch Holmes and EC and I agree with you. I wouldn't put EC ahead of Holmes for the simple fact that their resume is much more impressive to date and outside of one slip up last week, this team has won 25 of their last 26.

Boone is still not top 10 in the BGP poll, which is the one that most people on this board seem to think is the most accurate. I would say Boone should be somewhere around 13-14 right now, which is where they are currently ranked in the BGP poll.
