9th Region Teams Set
The Observer replied to StraightShooter's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
It would really be a shame if Boone County and Holmes end up on the same side of the tournament. I hope it doesn't happen. -
Beechwood 63 Covington Catholic 56
The Observer replied to Voice of Reason's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
So does a whiteout mean you are going to lose? :ohbrother: -
I find it very suprising to hear Blake Bryan did not win the DIII award. And even more suprised to hear it wasn't a Beechwood kid who stole it from him. Teams design their defense to stop Bryan. He is their focal point, and yet he still puts up 30 a game.

If the boys team moves up, so does the girls. How many wins does Beechwood's girls program have this year? There is your answer. Until both squads can prove to dominate or atleast compete on a regular basis, I don't see a change in Division. Now, the question to why Beechwood doesn't move up in football may be a little more legit!:idunno:

NKY Week 11 Coaches Poll
The Observer replied to The Observer's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
If Boone has 84 points, and 4 first place votes (40 points), that means they also got 4 second place votes (36 points) and one coach voted them 3rd !?!? -

Boone Co. @ Holy Cross (2/7)
The Observer replied to Theoldman12's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Call me crazy, but I think the style of ball Holy Cross plays can really cause Boone problems. Holy Cross makes teams play a solid offensive game and do not allow a lot of one on one play. I'll take Boone by only 3. -
Beechwood 85 Bellevue 51
The Observer replied to Cacdawg's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
What in the world defense did Bellevue play last night? Beechwood knocked down 14 3's !!!:idunno::eek: -
I cannot get a read on this team to save my life. They seem to have the talent, it's just a matter of bringing it to the table day in and day out.

Holmes v Hazard Predictions (2/7)

I'm going with Holmes until another team proves me wrong :ylsuper: -
Villa-Madonna 56 Ludlow 40

Congrats to Blake Bryan for setting the school record for points. Pretty impressive when you consider he is only a Junior. David Schuh has been doing a great job playing Robin to Blake's Batman. -
Conner seems to struggle on the road, but I do like the way Avery has been playing. I still think the Eagles do what it takes defensively. Scott by 7.

Bishop Brossart 60 Lloyd Memorial 53
The Observer replied to mcpapa's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree. I have not seen Lloyd play since their Christmas tournament but it is obvious that they have improved. That being said, good win for Brossart. I didn't expect this many points from either team. -
Beechwood 53 Covington Holy Cross 45
The Observer replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I was suprised by the outcome in this one with the Indians playing on their home flood. Beechwood had big men in foul trouble very early, yet were able to overcome it with their outside shot. Holy Cross did a nice job of controling the tempo of the game. I was suprised to see Giwa having success in the post. You don't see that a whole lot from a 5' 9" players. The press seemed to trip Beechwood up at the end of the game. i would be interested to see if Holy Cross uses the press the entire game if they play in Districts. -
Brossart @ Lloyd (2/4)
The Observer replied to pastmyprime's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I hope it's still on. While I think Brossart's defense will lead them to victory, Lloyd's hot shooting will keep them in it. I'll take the Mustangs 51-41. -
Holmes v Dixie Heights Predictions (2/4)
The Observer replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I'll take Holmes by 27. After the Scott game, the Bulldogs will come out ready to play. Dixie does not have anyone who can match up with the Johnson brothers. -
Beechwood @ Covington Holy Cross (2/4)
The Observer replied to Theoldman12's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I find it hard to believe that Beechwood could stop the quickness of Giwa and the shooting of Trimpe both. Egan has been putting up solid numbers lately as well. If the game is at Beechwood, I would take the Tigers, but its not. Therefore, I see a 48-45 Indian victory. -

I believe I saw that FOX 19 is showing the games live on TV, or at least the Holmes game and one more. -
NKY Poll: Week 7 (Updated)
The Observer replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Covington Catholic not even receiving a vote. How the mighty have fallen. -
I disagree, or atleast not at the games I've been to. I like Boone Co.'s student section. They do a pretty good job of staying in the game and seem to know what is going on. :ylsuper:

Point Guards - Who are the good ones?
The Observer replied to passtheball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
9th region, I would go with 1. Riley- Holmes 2. Buettell- Beechwood 3. Gabbard- Boone Co. 4. Pangalo- NCC I'm sure I may have missed a couple but those are the top 4 off the top of my head. Blake Bryan for Villa Madonna plays a lot of point but IMO he is more of a shooting guard.
