Bellevue vs. Beechwood (12/04)

Featured Replies

Any predictions? Early test for Herald and a nice way to start his season against his old program. Bellevue loses a lot, but if Jones can carry a load could have a decent season.. Thoughts?

Beechwood return a lot from last season and Bellevue lost a lot.

I think Beechwood wins by 20+.

Hunter Jones. In A, he will make that much of a difference. Bellevue over Beechwood 54-49

I think Bellevue's whole season will come upon what Hunter Jones does, and what, if any guard play they can get...

Why are we expecting Jones to be a major contributer? I do not believe he has played for Bellevue before. Has he shown great signs in the scrimmages? Why does the season live or die on his ability?

Considering Beechwood won by 26 and 28 points in the two times they played last year, I would not be picking Bellevue in this one. The fact Bellevue's coach did coach previously at Beechwood could help, but I see Beechwood winning by about the same margin as last year.

Beechwood by 10+ in this game. Jones will make Bellevue better but Beechwood is pretty solid.

I don't see how some can take Bellevue in this one. What has the Jones kid done that makes everyone think Bellevue will be that much better with him?

Beechwood is a proven team and only lost one player from last year's squad. I still say Beechwood by a lot.

IMO, Beechwood is not that good. They are not much different from last year, but Bellevue will be. A player with the ability of Jones can make that much of a difference for a small school, especially when playing another small school. We are talking about a D1 athlete, and at the small school level, those kids are rarely around. They are difference makers. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Beechwood will be one of the best "A" schools in nky this year hands down so I'd say they're a good team at that level. Jones may very well be a D1 "athlete" but "athletes" aren't always good basketball players.

Like you said though, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. :thumb:

What is jones' ability? Can he shoot? I he a great rebounder? Can he handle defensive pressure? Someone tell me....please.

I think Jones helps make this respectable but I gotta go with the red and white tigers because I am a realist.

Beechwood 74

Bellevue 56

Agreed.

They're not at full strength yet due to some football players missing. AJ Smith will help immensely. I can't remember the youngster's name from last year but they had a SOPH (now JR) guard that looked good and I would imagine starts this year. I saw a kid named Fangman that is a SOPH that may turn out to be a player down the road.

Agree, this will hurt them the most in the early stages of the season. The are missing Crane due to injury. BW may wind up as one of the better A teams, but what is that saying this year?

After watching Beechwood against Holmes I'd say Beechwood big. Don't see anyone who can match up with Smith.
