Mike Listerman Steps Down at Covington Catholic
I'll happily stick by my statement, but can't speak to your obvious personal issues with the AD. Principal Rowe has made some significant changes in the short time he's been in charge, and will get the basketball coaching hire done correctly, although it may not fit everyone's timeframe?

Trust me--Few people are more serious about athletic (and academic) success for CCH; or winning period, at anything, than Bob Rowe!!

Code's also a para-professional at Brossart, and supposedly CovCath is looking for an in-house teacher/coach. If that is truly a steadfast requirement, the field narrows to a couple of local diocesan head or assistant coaches, or an outside the system teacher? If outside the diocesan system, my guess is the candidate probably would have to be fairly young; as most older teacher/coaches probably would have built tenure in another system, and $$'s/retirement would be a big issue. If they don't stay "in-diocesan", I'm thinking they may drop the in-house teacher requirement?? I'm sure Principal Rowe is getting some interest from a wide variety of options; and suspect the pool of candidates is larger than many expect?

2011 Boys' Kentucky All-Star Basketball Roster
Certainly agree they are both fine coaches with great track records, but they don't seem to pop up very high in the multitude of "Best Coaches in NKY" threads that have graced these pages over the years?? I was simply disagreeing with the poster who said "Outside of Flynn at Highlands and the Cov Cath coach are there any good oaches left in the state?" IMO several coaches in NKY have done "more with less" than these two, although they're certainly respected for their accomplishments. To say no one in the state is in the league with these two would seem to be misguided IMO!! Back on topic, it would appear for some reason that whoever choses the players for this team had issues not only picking the best talent, but even attracting some of them to tryouts?? Looks like the "system" may need some tweaking, if KY hopes to compete vs. the Indiana Stars??

That's an interesting name I've heard as well, along with Faust, who's been named every time the CCH job has been rumored to possibly open up? Will be interesting to see which way they go, and Coach L will be very difficult to replace!

Ruling out a PP would really narrow the field it would seem? Tough to lure an established coach from a public system due to $$'s and more importantly retirement benefits, which would seem to leave a young "up & comer" or a current Diocesan teacher/coach? Which HC's at area Catholic schools are teachers? Faust, Dawn and Goetz I think fit that criteria? Seems like you wouldn't want to restrict the field for a high profile job like this one??

Best of luck to Coach Listermann in this future undertakings--He had a nice run at CCH. Guessing most prominent coaching names in the area will be mentioned for this one, but as Clyde says the public school compensation structure can be tough to give up for many potential candidates. Wonder if they're looking for a in-house teacher, or is a para-professional possible?

Rate the teams in the 10th region for next season
Hard to believe the 10th is wide open next year as most believe it will be and no mention of Scott? Losing their leader in Kellen Smith will be a blow, but they always seem to regroup and compete? Brossart returns their two best players in Fardo & Saunders, along with starting center Jennings & sixth man Trentman, who fought some injuries last year. As someone stated above, they will be bringing up a very good freshman group and should be as deep as Coach Code wants them to be. With Jennings, Saunders, Trentman, Norton, Burns and soph to be Trentman they will have some good size for the first time in a couple years, along with potentially some soon to be sophs. Underclassmen Uebel, Reiger, and Verst figure to join Fardo at guard, along with some sophs as well. Key IMO will be someone stepping up to run the team, as their lack of a true PG hurt at times last year--Uebel may very well be that guy, as he did a nice job directing the JV's last year? With size, depth (Can't imagine less than a 8-9 man rotation) and some good outside shooters, this team could be interesting as they develop & grow throughout the year. One thing for certain is that they will play some "D", and who earns playing time will be fun to watch in Alexandria next season.

Agree--Will miss EKU!! Can't believe moving the golf to Paducah. No disrespect to our western brethern, but it's a heckova long way from eastern & northern KY, and close to only a handful of schools?

Freshmen Regional Tournament hosted by Covington Catholic
Congrats to CovCath on what sounds like a very hard fought victory, and to the young 'Breds on a very nice showing in this event. Sounds like there's lots of talent in NKY coming up the next few years? Good job by all those who make this the fine event that it is year after year!!

I'll rather just say congratulations to the Mustangs on righting the ship after a little rough patch following the All "A", despite missing a starter in a very physical game. The Jugs play very hard and have some outstanding athleticism. I see better days ahead for both clubs!!
