I'm of the understanding that Highlands, Mayfield, Danville and the like have superior talent and have produced many next level players in respect to their classmates. Star power is NOT the reason X and T are dominating 6A. Depth and seniority play a much bigger role in T and X's dominance. Having equitable numbers would even out this advantage. No one has provided anything to make me think differently so far.

If you took the entire Trinity roster including all classes and took removed every fourth player. Would your team have beat St X in the championship? The numbers matter. And there is a BIG gap.

Yes they will be better than they currently are. If that weren't the case there wouldn't be classes. Currently we have a class system that says Central shouldn't compete with Male because they have 400 less boys yet this same class system suggest that Male who has 700 less boys than Trinity should compete together in the same class.

To be fair they didn't compete because they didn't play. I don't know the historical enrollment numbers of the respective schools but being X and T are all male they would only need 900 boys to be equal to a 1800 coed enrollment number.

Some facts to chew over my friend. The biggest school that you have to face has a 37% advantage over you. Most 6A schools have to overcome a bigger gap than you do (even though you play two classes up) in order to face T and X. You would have to add the population of boys at Highlands to Eastern High School to equal the number at Trinity. Your telling me adding the Highlands football team to Eastern wouldn't make them better? Highlands has a great program, for reasons that I'm not aware of. What I am aware of is that if Male, Manual, Ballard, PRP, and Eastern had as much depth as Trinity and St X they would be significantly more competitive.

What don't you believe, the numbers or that having 500 more boys gives you an advantage in depth and talent pool.

The numbers I have come to a different result as far as Dunbar is concerned (28 to Manual 38 to Male). Regardless, there is more than just numbers I don't dispute that. But would you argue that a combined team of Male and Manual wouldn't be significantly more talented than either team alone. The biggest difference would be the depth at the line, an area that currently X and T hold the most significant advantage.

In order to eliminate the private schools dominance of the 6A system we need to consider the following action Consolidation. The difference between St X and T in numbers of boy is marginal 1397 to 1420. I used the average of the two numbering at 1408 and calculated their advantage in numbers over local 6A schools. Eastern 30% (meaning Trinity and St X have 30% more boys than Eastern) PRP 35% Seneca 39% Manual 41% Ballard 43% Southern 44% Male 47% Butler 48% By making the following schools through merger we would create an opposite advantage to the one currently held by the private schools. Balastern 1792 =21% (meaning Balastern has 21% more boys than STX or T) BRP 1699 = 17% Southerneca 1636 = 14% Malenual 1567 = 10% A quick look at the numbers will illustrate that consolidating these schools wouldn’t even match the current advantage that the private schools hold over the publics. The point I want to make is not that we really need to consider consolidation, nor am I for the expulsion of X and T (I rather like competing against them), but rather to shine a brighter light on the issue of numerical dominance that is shared by Trinity and X. More and more I see this as the paramount reason why they have the stranglehold on the 6A title. More than assumed recruiting, coaching, or just plain trying harder. These schools do have a significant calculable advantage over the rest of the class. Would St X and Trinity be great football schools in the midst of Balastern and Malenual? Butler would be a step down for Nichols.

I have zero info on the validity of this subject, nor do I want the following statement to be a direct reflection on any specific person. But if someone doesn't want to be at Manual, then they don't need to be there. Manual has enough people that want to attend for the right reasons that we don't need to "hold on" to anyone.

If you want to participate against public schools you and CCH could come play in the existing Old Rivalry Bowl where Male and Manual play against two other teams in consecutive games.

That is a short sighted view. Butler has a winning record vs every team you mentioned, it won't take them long to rebuild.

This year they wouldn't have, but it is the route to right the ship. Historically Butler hasn't been as bad as they were last year, nor will they continue to be.

Teams like Hopkinsville, Ashland, Owensboro, Danville, Corbin, as well as Somerset used to be regulars in the past. It would be nice to retrace some steps and play them again.

The districts are small though. If they were to play some of the nearby smaller schools Valley, Doss, Iroquios, Western, Desales, and Fairdale they could quickly improve the record and build some confidence.

Very much so. They may get there pick out of the Dixie Hwy kids but NO one east of I-65 is looking to go Shively. Am I wrong or has Butler gone through a lot of coaches recently.

Food for thought. Only 7 schools in 6A have a population of boys that is closer to St X and Trinity than they are to Highlands.

WHAT!!!!!!!!! This is THE reason Manual Stadium is still my favorite venue. There is no better place to watch a goal line stand then behind Manual's endzones.

Manual had two losses, both to St X, and played a significantly tougher schedule. I'm not saying Manual is better than Bowling Green, but I see no evidence to make me think Bowing Green was more impressive or could have handled Manual.

So what he is saying is, the better team didn't win, right?

I haven't seen Trinity play but X has as good a defense as I've seen in high school football. Makes me think X will win.

This year X is "that good". I expect them to roll on to the championship.

The thing is that T and X are more or less all "Role Player" teams. While it is true that they are in reality all star teams of the CSAA, the CSAA doesn't have the same level of athleticism as the optimist and public schools do. Sure occasionally there is a Brian Brohm or a Victor Anderson, but they are exceptions rather than the rule. I will also concede that there MAY be more talent on the offensive and defensive lines at X and T than the combined public schools. Any All Star team would have a difficult time defeating and All Role player team. However there is no doubt in my mind that there is more talent in the public schools.

X's defense dominated this game, there really isn't another storyline to follow. Every play was covered and well read, Manual needed to make exceptional plays to get anything at all, they didn't and the defense couldn't hold out without any support.

I think the burden of proof is on Manual's shoulders for that.
