  1. Shelby will take this one by 12 at home. Best of Luck to both teams! :thumb:
  2. I have seen Gallatin play quite a bit this year. I do not see Trent as their best player IMO. I realize he scores alot but alot of his points are off rebounds that bounce to him. He is kind of like the "garbage" man for GC. Do not get me wrong, Trent is a good player but I cannot see him as top 5. In my opinion, the best player at Gallatin Co. is Scott Brown. He handles the ball well, great defender, and shoots lights out. He really helps his team succeed.
  3. I agree! He is a very strong and smooth player. He really gets his team involved in the game also. He is one player that is very hard to stop.
  4. Who do you think are the ten best players in the 8th right now?
  5. I hear Josh Ricketts is back for the Panthers this season. Is this true? If so, he will be a great asset for Carroll Co. I watched him play a couple years ago and was very impressed with his play as a sophomore. I was sad to see him not play last year. Hopefully he can make a good comeback his senior year. I think the All "A" is wide open for the 8th this year. I do not see one team that is going to "walk through" the tournament. It should be a great year on the diamond! :thumb:
  6. Could the score have been close at halftime because Carroll was playing great D? I was at the game for the first three quarters and Carroll showed me alot in the first half. They hustled, were not intimidated, and held their own down in the paint. This team continues to impress me by how much they have improved. I think it might have been a great game if shots would have fallen for Carroll in the third. Yager and Cable could not hit shots outside and they usually have a couple trey's every game. Hendrick could not get any looks in the paint but continued to battle. Coach David Miller has this Carroll Co. team moving in the right direction. Looking at the Class "A" bracket for the 8th Region, do not be surprised if the Panthers advance to the championship and pull the upset to go to Richmond. Best of Luck to all the teams in the Class "A"! It is going to be some great basketball! :thumb:
  7. Carroll Co. has a tough game in the first round. Walton Verona is playing very good ball right now. However, I think Carroll Co. will give it all they have. I look for Carroll Co. to win the match-up and advance past Trimble Co. On the other side, I look for Gallatin to win. With Carroll and Gallatin for the championship, I am going with the Lady Panthers! Best of Luck to all the teams! :thumb:
  8. I agree with you about Sandlin, Watkins, and Knollman. It seems as if every game I attend with Knollman officiating, the game stops because of some fan in the stands. Knollman is a good official, but fans are going to criticize about the call made no matter what. I do not see a reason to get a fan out of the gym if it is not something serious. I do realize some fans do get out of hand and need to be escorted out, but some fans are just cheering for their team. Like I said before, the officials are trained very well and overall do a good job for all Regions.
  9. Trimble Co. will definitely miss the presence of David Bird, Justin Hawkes, and Jesse Peters. Sullivan was a decent player, but i did not realize he was going to play QB. He must have showed Coach Poynter something nobody else has seen. Best of Luck to the Raiders this coming season! :thumb:
  10. Gallatin Co. is very overrated IMO. They have not won against a good quality team all season. On Friday night, Carroll Co. gave the Wildcats a scare as they almost pulled off the upset. Despite a few bad plays by the Panthers, Carroll would have walked away with a win. Gallatin Co. is a good team, but to rank them at the top with the All "A" schools is stretching it quite a bit. University Heights is going to be my pick to win the All "A" this year. Scotty Hopson is very hard to stop and the UHA coach is a great one. I believe they will win the All "A" but they are not going to win it easily. Best of Luck to all of the "A" teams as they prepare for the Region Class "A" Tournament! :thumb:
  11. Terry Coldiron is by far the best official in the 8th region. He is fair to every team and makes the right call almost everytime. Other officials in the 8th seem to favor some other teams at times, but I do realize that they are out there to make the right calls. All officials are trained and do overall a good job all over the state. Keep up the great work! :thumb:
  12. This game was probably one of the best games I have seen all year! I was very excited to see the Panthers play ball very hard and play as a team. This game was not close because Gallatin played bad, both teams played very well throughout the game. This game shows that Carroll can compete within the district and could make some noise come Class "A". It was a great night of basketball in Carrollton. Congrats to the Carroll Co. Lady Panthers and to Gallatin Co. on the victory last night. :thumb:
  13. Final, I just recieved the phone call. Way to go Panthers! :dancingpa
  14. Oldham Co. or Anderson Co. have it. The 8th will be decided between these two teams. They are both coached very well and have tremendous athletes. One of these two teams will take home the 8th region title.
  15. I have not seen any thread on this. I was able to see a couple of games. Carroll vs. Lloyd Memorial, Lloyd Memorial vs. Woodford Co., and Carroll vs. Iroquois. From what I seen, Carroll had the game won against Lloyd but turnovers and free throws cost them the game. Carroll played very well against an athletic Iroquois team is a very well coached team. Carroll fell short by 3, I believe. Lloyd vs. Woodford Co. was a great game as Woodford won by a tip in. #34 from Lloyd, #35 from Iroquois, and #3 from Woodford were probably the best players in the tournament, IMO. Does anyone know who was in the Championship and who won? Also, does anyone have information on the all-tournament team? I am not sure if one was selected or not.
  16. Carroll Co. has a very nice girls team. They compete every year. I cannot get over how exciting it is to watch Girdy play! Great Job Lady Panthers! :thumb:
  17. Dynasty? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Two years of very nice playing does not make you a dynasty. You have to be established as a contender for about five or more years. Dynasty is quite the stretch from GC.
  18. Gallatin does have a good program and I have respect for the program and Jon Jones. The problem I have is the GC fans putting other schools down. These other schools that GC is "head and shoulders above" are building some good programs. Carroll is playing majority juniors and sophomores and only 4 of them had very much playing time and experience last year. It is just the start of the season and Carroll has shown some good things. I am sure Coach Miller and his staff will have the CC boys ready to go come tournament time. If I remember right, a few years ago Gallatin was not "head and shoulders above" anyone. They were struggling just as Carroll, Williamstown, and Trimble are doing right now. Carroll will be just fine. The players that they have right now know how to win. I have seen them win multiple of games in younger years and they can compete with GC and other schools. GC was only up 7 at halftime and Carroll had tons of turnovers by that point. Next game will be a great one to see. :thumb: To the Carroll players that read this, keep your head up. I have known fans at Carroll Co. for a long time and they have faith. Do not let other teams discourage you from your goals of reaching Richmond and competing in the region tournament. I know you can do it and I know your community does too. I have seen you boys play a few times this year and I have seen alot of potential. Work hard, play with heart, and keep fighting. The wins will come and I am sure you will be there in the end. Best of luck to you boys! :thumb:
  19. Does Anyone have stats for Carroll? Gallatin Co. showed patience in the offense and ran their FG breaks hard. When Carroll got pressured, they folded and it resulted in many turnovers. I realize that Carroll is young, but these mistakes are killing them and have for a couple of years now. I do think that Carroll will make adjustments and be ready come the next re-match. This was an awesome game played by the Wildcats. Great Job GC and Coach Jones! :thumb:
  20. I think Mr. Atheltics has it right. Nobody in the 31st District has a "walk" to region. It will be good macth-ups throughtout the year and come tournament time, it is anybody's ball game. It will be a great week of basketball! :thumb:
  21. Allen, Proctor, and Welch run the floor very well.
  22. I think Walton will take this one by 10+. They have alot of spped and play an up-tempo game. Trimble likes to play at a crawl and run offense. Walton will spped them up. Good Luck to both teams! :thumb:
  23. After watching three out of four teams play throughout the season, I think some surprises will happen this week. I attended the Carroll/Owen game and I think that if Carroll had hit their shots like they normally do, they would have came out with a W, but they did not. Owen executes the offense very well, Gallatin plays an up-tempo game, and Carroll tries to run you and occasionally can execute offenses. For this week my predictions are: CC over HC by 10+ (Carroll has alot of speed to match-up with) GC over OC by 8+ (Owen will be pressured too hard defensively) OC over HC by 5+ (Owen execures offense very well) CC over GC by 7+ (Carroll will out run the Wildcats) These are just some thoughts I have. It will be a great week for 31st District. I wish all the teams the Best of Luck! :thumb:
  24. Carroll played very well in the first half. I thought that they would pull it out but Shelby started executing and playing much better the second half. Carroll showed alot last night. They can be very good by the seasons end! They are an exciting team to watch! :thumb:
