Why!? They played it Sunday and everyone around me just shook their head and said, please NO. Is there anyone outside Tennessee that doesn't hate that song because it is so overplayed?

 

I was wondering what the connection was. It did seem to get a lot of Boone fans clapping.

 

The Boone band is the gold standard of pep bands in NKY.

 

I have no idea why they always play it. I remember them doing it back since I was in school from 00-04. They probably did it long before that too.

I have always enjoyed Boone's band. Holmes and Dixie were also enjoyable.

There were actual students (shocking, I know) in the stands in front of me who were yelling at the band to play Rockytop, and the band obliged.

Did Boone's band get in free? I honestly think that students from the participating schools should get in free of charge. With attendance waning at the BOK and in general all hs games, is it time for the Regional Tournament to be moved back to a high school gym? Boone got some really nice coin with their boys and girls winning. They should of used some of those thousands and purchased every student a ticket that wanted one. #rightthingtodo

I don't think even being free would get great numbers in, yes you will get some. I heard the announcer in the first semi game thank a cell phone store for buying tickets for Cooper students, and I think they said the band too, not 100% sure though. No to going back to a HS gym, the kids deserve to play in a big arena, plus it's good for the winner to get to play with the background to prep for Rupp.

Disappointed with this thread. Boone County won two games and are moving on to state. Time for BGP to move on too.

 

I have no affiliation with Boone. (St Henry and Cooper---after I make sure I am aligned with the right feeder schools :lol:)

 

So many posters who I usually respect and enjoy reading what they have to say have really turned sour here.

 

Let's see, what can we complain about. Refs? Nah..both games were pretty clean. Players? Nope. Sportsmanship? Nothing to really harp on. Cheering sections? Yeah, that's it! Boone did not have one so let's start some senseless chatter...

 

But this is just my thin-skinned opinion.

The Schools participating in the Regional Tourney Bands got in free for the games their teams were playing in!

Why should Boone County buy tickets for students who don't care enough to show up for games all year? So you don't support the team during the season and your reward is a free ticket? If you are giving tickets away, give them to the parents and fans who have been there all year for the team.

I did attend some Boone games and watched another on IHIGH. I think you might be a tad over critical VOR. I did see a student section and thought they did a nice job at the games I attended. I would have had the kids check in at the arena, show their ID and given them a ticket. Don't see anything wrong with that. I would of also had a raffle for all the kids who attended and given away some cool stuff like gift cards and electronics. I'm cool with giving the parents tix also.
