Didn't have time to read all 6 pages of posts, BUT, the Boone Student section was dismal on Sunday. Strange thing is there was a small one for the girls' game but there was nothing for they boys game.

 

With that being said, the absolutely BEST student section I've ever seen outside of Diddle Arena? Boone County when they played Ryle on February 2nd.

 

Two pics, one shows Boone kids in background on Sunday during the girls' game, they were not there for the boys game. (Maybe this was part of the boys b-ball team?) Second shows the student section during the girls game versus Ryle; impressive.

 

 

So in order to get Boone kids to show up to a Regional Final, you want to pay their way! Buy mommy and daddy a ticket and give them free stuff? I'll look for you in the politics forum asking for 'four more years'!

 

Not sure why politics came up, I don't discuss that here. However, people need to realize this is a new age when it comes to kids. They even have their own name. I was just trying to think outside of the box to make the games fun for the kids and create some excitement, because currently their is NONE, because what they are doing now is NOT working. Would love to see a histogram referencing high school attendance since 1980. Probably look something like a black diamond in Vail.

I agree attendance is down overall, but rediculous that only a dozen kids from Boone showed up for the finals. Other schools had great attendance throughout the year and the games I saw at the bank all had a great student turnout. Not sure why one would think Boone kids need "free stuff" to get them to go to the games.

Its all about peer pressure. Now a days if you care about your school and show school spirit your almost looked down upon. When Holmes beat Boone in the region final in 09, I saw more alumni at the game than current students from Holmes. Even as a Holmes grad, I love CovCath for their Colonel Crazies. Every year and every game there is a crowd of students. Kids today have no pride for their school.

Two big and loud student sections tonight at Henry County. Adds a lot to the environment.

Actually by winning the tournament you spend far more than your share monies in going to the Sweet Sixteen.

 

The team that makes out best under the 9th Region format is the runner-up. They get paid a share for each game they played plus don't have the expenditure output of playing in the state tournament.

So the KHSAA pays nothing?

Do you think There might be some resentment toward the boys team for some reason? I know it seems like lack of attendance overall by students appears to be down but to have virtually no section of kids at a Regional Final? That almost sounds like a movement. Just curious how the players may be percieved at the school or how They get along with the rest of the student body.

The state reimburses schools who go to state so I am not sure how much of a fact this is. There is a limit so there might be some small expense.

I'm curious, where did you get your number of a dozen of kids from Boone showing up? Just because there are not that many students sitting in the student section doesn't mean they aren't at the game.
