  1. I expected more from this team too, but... How many of the kids you named as talent for Boone are Seniors? I thought this team would perform better, but the team lost 28 seniors from the team that went to the state semi's a year ago. The team needs a QB to at least give the threat of the pass. Both Ingolia & Schulze are "gamers" who play the game hard, but neither demand any respect from opposing defenses. Pack 8-9 guys in the box it becomes difficult to ground & pound. Every team has to deal with injuries through a football season, but Boone was hit early & often. I would agree with those who criticize the lack of imagination in the Rebel offense. I think the staff would like to open things up, but I don't think the current group has a QB that they trust to throw the ball with any success. Priority #1 has to be to start developing and using QB's. I thought last year that Kam Schwartz gave the team a reliable, talented QB that the staff trusted for the first time in a long time. The team probably misses him more than anyone else because they didn't develop a replacement.
  2. Boring game. Not sure if either team completed a pass. No joke. Seriously don't think either team had a completed pass. Punt return before half set the tone for the rest of the game. Hope Boone's QB is okay. He got crushed helmet to helmet while trying to pickup a fumble in the 2nd quarter & did not return. Boone then became even more one dimensional on offense (if that is even possible) after that. I want those 3 hours of my life back!
  3. Oh brother! Don't get me started on the taking a knee thing. That is a girls soccer thing that somehow found its way onto the football field. Be mindful that a player is injured. Be respectful. But you do not have to take a knee. Coaches can coach, players can listen even while a player is hurt. It is not bush league. It is football. Sorry, if that is not politically correct, but it is the truth.
  4. Conner's O-Line vs Cooper's D-Line is the match-up that I am most interested to see. If Conner can't handle them, then this game could be a blow out for Cooper. If they can, then it may be a track meet, and despite last week, I like Conner in a track meet. If I were coaching Conner, I would make sure that someone is hitting Morris every play he is on the field playing defense. Conner might be able to wear him down physically. Should be fun tonight...
  5. How many kids from that Freshman team are still playing at Ryle as Seniors? Based upon what I saw last year I would say a decent number of good football players have decided to do something other than play football at Ryle. The sideline looked like a 1A or 2A sideline. Seemed like Ryle was having big problems getting players to come out for the team. Not sure if it has gotten better this year, but my guess based upon what I'm reading on BGP is no...
  6. Yes, sorry, as Guru said, I was just trying to say that Dixie scored a late TD after the outcome was decided and the final score was 34-13, not 34-7. I can see how you could interpret my post as a slam on Dixie, but that is not what I intended.
  7. Dixie scored in garbage time 34-13 final.
  8. Wow. Where were the defenses tonight?
  9. Rebels shoot self in foot with 3 offensive penalties after moving ball inside dixie 10. Miss fg. 34-7 boone w 4:30 left.
  10. Start 4th. 34-7. Boone has ball.
  11. 34-7. 25-30 td run for marshall. Boone's o-line dominant.
  12. They have as good a chance as anyone of winning district. I am sure the team is not happy being 0-5, BUT... They have lost 5 games against tough competition in which they were probably underdogs. I think most would agree they have been hit by injury harder than most. They have a young team that lost 28 seniors from last year and were expected to improve as the year progressed. I will not be surprised if they run the table in district. I will not be surprised if they get beat every game. I think it would be foolish to count them out at this point.
  13. After watching Conner & Cooper play Boone, I won't make a prediction on the outcome of the game, other than to say I predict I will be there and it will be a good game. Cooper's defense looks to be the real deal. Ditto Conner's offense. Anyone could easily predict a 2 TD victory for either of these teams, but these teams appear evenly matched, each with different strengths. Having Morris play both ways would be a HUGE concern for me were I a Cooper fan. He will wear down as the season wears on
  14. Thought Boone threw the ball a lot last night, mostly unsuccessfully. Seemed like they were trying a ton of short sideline passes. The interception before half was on a slant about 10 yards from the line of scrimmage, the DB jumped the route. Boone did have a receiver break open on an out and up in the 4th, but the QB over threw the ball instead of getting some air under it and letting his wideout run under it. Too bad because it would have been a long TD as he was probably 5 yards clear of the DB. Cooper's d-line did a good job against both run and pass, Boone's QB did not have much time in the pocket and they rolled him out on at least half of his attempts.
  15. Yes, Moss played. He was not a factor catching the ball until late in the 4th quarter. I believe he made 2 catches, both for first downs. One was a real nice hands catch in traffic, may have been on 4th down, to pick-up a first.
  16. Couldn't agree more regarding Morris & Collins. If I'm the opposing coach I make sure that every play Morris plays on defense he is getting hit. I think you can wear him down. Cooper's defense, especially the d-line, looked very legit. I am buying, not selling on the Rebels right now. They are young. I think they started a Freshman & at least 2 Sophomores. They have work to do on both sides of the ball, but I won't be shocked if they win the district despite a poor start to the season. Boone moved the ball better than Cooper for the last 3 quarters, although neither team really did much. The 2 best drives were the last of the first half and of the game when Boone moved the length of the field before turning the ball over via interception before half and on downs at the end of the game. Three holding penalties didn't help Boone in the second half. Again did not see Jet on offense this week. Remember he did score 4 times in the first game, so not having him the last 2 does hurt the explosiveness of the Rebels.
  17. Conner's FG actually was scored before Boone took the lead. Boone went up 19-18, then Barker hit on 2 long passes. The first, on a broken coverage, set-up the go ahead TD run. The second was the long TD pass to make it 31-19.
  18. Thought Boone played very well w/ the exception of 3 HUGE breakdowns in the defensive secondary. Got lucky and Barker missed on one and Conner had to settle for a FG instead of TD. Jet Williams got hurt on the 1st play from scrimmage and didn't return. I have to believe this game would have had a different ending w/ Jet at CB. Diaw was a force w/ the North/South runs inside the tackles.
  19. Very true, they should have beaten Male by quite a bit more than 2 TD's. Was pointing out they had more than 1 6A win outside the district. Heck, after a rough start in the first playoff game, that defense went 15 quarters of football in the 6A playoffs giving up 3 TD's.
  20. They won 3 6A playoff games & beat Male in the regular season. Lost in the state semi-final game by 2 points. Nope you won't take anything away from last year's team...
  21. I don't think Boone is in slow decline. The team lost a ton from last year, but give this year's team a chance. This was one game against a good team, basically a home game for MC and they had a grudge to repay. Not sure what MC lost from last year, but that team was up 13-0 and had the ball inside BC's 10 yard line 5 minutes into the playoff game. Even if this team doesn't do as well as last year, there is a ton of talent at the soph/junior level. I expect the next several years to be very good years for Rebel football. If there is a trend, I see the team's performance as having bottomed out a couple years ago and it seems to be rebounding quite nicely. Just one guys opinion...
  22. Heard game has been canceled. Not enough players participating for either team...
  23. A Top 5 overall & #1 underclassman in the region! Great showing Mr. Barker!
  24. I wouldn't say Robbie was better than Mikel or Mikel was better than Robbie. They were both excellent, but played different roles on an outstanding defense. I see Mikel's being honored as props for the entire defense. I would not have been shocked to see Hiles, Rodriguez, Ganster or Vires mentioned. My guess is that the coaches talked up Mikel because he has the most D1 potential. Just my opinion.
