Heck, Jonathan Jackson was 1A player of the year. Seems like a joke to me. I know these are all good players on the list but Jackson is a great player.

 

This is one time I would absolutely, unequivocally agree with you snot. We played against some who made the list at LBer, (ie Lampone) and he and all others were no where close to JJ's ability. It's an absolute sham and shame.

RAM ... I haven't seen the two you mention so I can't compare. I understand you are lamenting the omission of those two and not necessarily where they should be on the list. However, I will say I have seen Nussbaum and Talkers and they have big time legs, in the top 5 of kickers I have seen in the past 20 years in N. Ky. They both put more kickoffs into the end zone than they didn't.

 

I saw all of Beechwood's games this year. Nussbaum probably had around 90 kickoffs. There were only perhaps 15 of those kickoffs that were not touchbacks into the end zone. Of those 15 that were returned, I can only recall maybe 5 returns that made it to the 20 because Nussbaum not only kicked it deep, he had great hang time. I would also guess Nussbaum had 30 or more kickoffs that not only went into the end zone with hang time, they landed right at or beyond the back line of the end zone. Nussbaum has the strongest leg I have seen in the last 20 years with the only kicker I can recall being close in leg strength being Popham from Cov Cath.

 

I have seen both kickers and I will go with Nussbaum.:thumb:

Can you say definitively that they are better ? My guess is you have not seen much if any of the two from NKY.

Vanhoose not only put kickoffs in the end zone, almost all of them, he kicked they completely though the end zone. He attempted to kick a new State Record FG against us (65 yards) which he missed and would have been quite ironic since Pettery currently owns the record and played for us. But, for the coach to allow him to try it, he must have thought he had an honest chance.

 

We can compare them all day, but the fact of the matter is, those that know the state football scene would agree me. The best two kickers in the state were not on this team at first team, second team, or honorable mention.

Now, that I can't tell you, I don't know who he nominated. But, apparently he nominated Cory Greg from Ashland, who I don't think is deserving. Nothing against Greg, but I really don't think he is All State material. And, I don't think Maynard saw Vanhoose play, I know he wasn't there when we played Pikeville.

I second the mention of Vanhoose from Pikeville. He is one of the top 5 kickers I have seen in KY. Tremendous high school kicker.

 

I have heard a lot of praise for Greifenkamp also, but never have seen him in person.

I wouldn't say Robbie was better than Mikel or Mikel was better than Robbie. They were both excellent, but played different roles on an outstanding defense. I see Mikel's being honored as props for the entire defense. I would not have been shocked to see Hiles, Rodriguez, Ganster or Vires mentioned. My guess is that the coaches talked up Mikel because he has the most D1 potential. Just my opinion.

Sounds like Vanhoose might have leg strength comparable to Nussbaum.

And it won't matter. You will still have 3 pages of people complaining that someone was left off. Yet not one them will say who shouldn't have been on the list. One of the complaints you see about the AP list is there is no way that anyone that votes has seen every team play. How is that different for the BGP? or the CJ list?
