In all seriousness, Who wins Trinity vs The All-State team??

 

Sounds like an opportunity to start another thread. We've got plenty of time to fill before next year.

Now, that I can't tell you, I don't know who he nominated. But, apparently he nominated Cory Greg from Ashland, who I don't think is deserving. Nothing against Greg, but I really don't think he is All State material. And, I don't think Maynard saw Vanhoose play, I know he wasn't there when we played Pikeville.

 

Doesn't Pikeville have an AP vote?

I'm feelin' ya. But let's give old Maynard some props. He voted, and it sounds like that is alot more than we can say about untold counts of others.

Jackson will be on every other state all star team you see.

And he probably should be. However when those threads are started the over/under will be 5 posts before someone cries about thier guy being left off. Who would you replace on the list with Jackson?

Spartan is not a Mf fan. As others have said, Jackson should have been on the lists. I suspect the reason he was not might be due to the transition of a new sports editor at the local newspaper the Mayfield Messenger. The new hire has no previous experience in the sports department and likely did not know to make the nomination. I will again be suprised if he is not on the other lists when they come out just as VoR said. The good is that he has another year left so he can hopefully earn AP Honors next year just as he did as a sophmore. Jackson does reportedly have a couple of D-1 offers on the table currently. I can not confirm it but rumor is that Ole Miss is one of them

Jackson's is probably a bad example to use for my point. I think just about everyone is in agreement that he should have been on there. However if you were to replace anyone on the list with Jackson I would almost guarantee you someone would be on here complaining their guy was left off and everyone would be calling this list a sham.

Totally agree. Someone always feels slighted on these deals. But this one is a total joke. It's hard not to laugh at the glaring omissions. That's really not been up for debate in this thread.

Spartan79....the players do not nominate or vote for themselves, it is done by regional media. Jackson has remarkable stats per the KHSAA website that very few in the state can touch. He will have much success and will get his rewards and honors next year. That I am certain. I wish him and his team the best next year, especially against your team. You continue to hang your hat on the historic early season win against HC, that ended with a failed season. HC got thumped in the season and ended with a historic, Cinderella story State Championship. In 2011 , Lampone had 135 tackles (99 solo), 12 sacks, 15 QB pressures, 4 FR, 1 INT and a 2-yr total of 260 tackles (191 solo). He was nominated from the NKY media and his game leading tackles in the state championship game may have garnered other media support. It's time to move on, my friend. Merry Christmas!

You can continue to skin it however you like but bottom line, HC hasn't ever beaten BW in football. I still ask how can you make up the 43 points your team lost by? And by the way, never said the players nominate or vote for themselves. My comment if you read it thoroughly states that whoever voted on this list got it wrong! Especially concerning Jackson. I know Pettrey was good and I believe he and the Raceland team came to Mayfield one summer but I would put him as one of the best not the best. Kickers like David Akers(Tates Creek) and Rob Bironas(Trinity) were great kickers and all pro's.

I love having Mark in our area doing what he does. And, as you said, at least he voted, that is more then some. And, I appreciate him nominating some of the better players in the area and trying to get them some recognition. I just think there were some others, even the Ashland team, that would have been more noteworthy.

The problem is he runs the Tony Franklin System. Alot of people have a BIG problem on this board with that.

That's a bunch of baloney. The ones on here that really know football and have seen this kid play, absolutely know he would be a star on any team with any system. Period.

HC's loss has nothing to do w/ all state players.....but.... to answer your question, you make up those 43 points by going out practicing harder, self evaluating your team, changing personnel where needed, adjusting scheme where needed, getting better every week, and winning the rest of your games. Finnaly, and most importantly, winning a state championship. Check, check, check,check, check, check, & Check Mate.

 

Ask any player or coach who has ever won anything if they would take an in season beat down if that season was going to end with a championship and to a man you will get a resounding yes.

 

And Jackson desreves and will get all state recognition.
