I have a question... I realize UK has an unreal amount of talent on this year's team, but does he have any players who can effectively shot the ball? It seems like it may be difficult to win a title if no one on the team can shoot well.

Lamb is a very good shooter.

Really? This year?

Really? This year?

50% from 3 point land (16-32) and 89 % (25-28) from the FT line going into today's game. It doesn't get much better than that.

50% from 3 land before this game...

Come on people think before you just throw stuff out there. This team is good, it's one loss. Relax!!

This answers the question posed on another thread as to whether UK will go undefeated in the regular season.

The snake oil salesman has a little explaining to do.

I don't think you want to start a name calling contest if your coach is Rick Pitino.

The last 5.6 seconds were misplayed by UK. In that situation, I think the strategy is:

1. Soft press. Let them get it in bounds and let them start bringing it up court.

2. Once the ball clears the hash before midcourt, you foul and you make sure the foul is called.

3. Repeat on the inbounds from the side following the foul - pressure but let them in bounds it into backcourt and then foul again.

I agree that Teague made an attempt at a foul just as they crossed mid court but it was a weak one. On the other hand Miller actually withdrew from contact trying to avoid getting a foul call on the passer to the 3 point shooter. Bad play by Miller. The way he played it makes me think Cal did not tell them to make sure they commit a foul. Was this discussed by Cal post game?

Yes, and Teague even commented that Cal told them to foul during the time out prior to Lamb's free throw.

Mirrors the Ole Miss game last year. Live and learn from it Not surprised in the least they lost this one.

IU is better than many people give them credit for. Capable shooters and decent post play with Zeller.

Was surprised IU played man. UK was all out of sorts in the first half on offense. Poor shot selection and not patient at all.

Jones was pathetic because most of it is all effort. One rebound. Putrid.

Showed some gumption in coming back but give IU credit.

Cal may have told them to foul, but I still contend that clearing lane and not offering any resistance at foul lane on second free throw was a mistake. You miss it you can foul within a second or two and force inbounds from backcourt. You make it, you pick up full court man, with either ball pressure or by playing one step behind and not get caught up on screens. You have to force dribbler east to west and you can still foul...allowing a straight dribble inside three point line is not ideal, plus Teague did not sprint back and help Miller out.

Congrats to IU....been a long climb for them.

I'm just going to try and look at a couple positive things from tonight:

1) MKG is the best player on this team and I might have a man-crush on him. Seriously, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite all-time players. If he continues to play like he has, and with the passion he has, he will be my number 1.

2) Teague looked MUCH better in the second half. He was the reason for the comeback, seemingly scoring at will in one on one situations. Hope we continue to see that kind of play from him.

3) The kind of impact Davis has on the game became apparent tonight. Even when he isn't scoring or getting much in the way of stats, his presence alone makes a huge difference.

4) Great heart shown by the team. They really do hate to lose, and that passion is what champions are made of. I feel good about their chances in March, even after this loss.

5) While I would have loved to get the win, it is probably better that the team get humbled by this one. That first loss should leave a nasty taste in their mouths, and hopefully we will see more effort and smarter play from here on out.

Congrats to IU. I severely underestimated their abilities, and they showed out tonight. Enjoy this win and I look forward to the next time these two teams meet. Rivalry renewed...

Reminded me of the South Carolina game from '09 with Wall & Co... Young team newly named #1, and goes into a hostile road arena for the first time. Indiana deserved to win this game, and Cal now has the attention of his team. This should only help in the long run.

Agree.
