December 8, 201114 yr The problem is attaching emotion to these decisions. It is a business decision for Pujols and a business decision for the Cardinals. No one did anyone wrong and I would guess they both would have preferred that Pujols stayed a Cardinal. But business is business. Very true. Fans would be a lot less emotional and probably a lot happier if they would just come to grips with the reality of professional athletics. It is not rah-rah, give it your all. It is every man for himself. As you have implied, it is a job and each athlete is a business of one.

In fact I am happy as heck he is out of the NL central. Not sure where I said that. It is 100% about money and it should be. I've never said otherwise. The team was successful before him and will be again now that he's gone. Now we maybe get to see what the young Redbird talent can do. Win or lose I'll always be a Cardinal fan.

Unfortunately for me, Pujols is the Cardinals. I remember Big Mac and the 00' playoffs but really everything took off with Pujols and Edmonds. I met Albert when I was 12, and he has always been my favorite. I still will be rooting for him in the AL.

Sad Yes, all of them are sell-outs. That's what the professional sports game has become. It's a shame that you all rush to the altar on a regular basis to worship and throw your money at them. They have no allegiance to you or to the city in which they play. It's all about them and the highest bidder. NOBODY is worth 273 million for ten years to do anything. Unfortunately that's what our world has become. Glad I'm in the fourth quarter of this life and will be shuffling off of it soon. To me, professional sports are a modern day tragedy!!!

December 9, 201114 yr Rejecting the offer from the Marlins is an even bigger deal if you consider that Florida has NO state income tax, while California has one of the highest.
