@dmh115----no one from the western side of the state cared about the enrollment of Highlands. It's not like when BG, or even Boyle for that matter, said 'well, it was just a small school so we should have beaten them.' when they beat them. The only difference the enrollment makes is the size of the student section.

 

Really, enrollment doesn't matter? Purple, why are classes divided according to enrollment? (This is me calling you out)

I didn't read it that way. Perhaps I'm wrong, but knowing Henry like I do, I doubt she meant to say that.

 

I am going on record to defend her intentions as well given the time (2:40am) of her posts. Ill bet LN didnt even know she was posting since I am sure he was already out.

I'm not big on making predictions, but having watched BG on tape, I strongly believe Highlands would beat BG.

 

BG is another very good but very typical west Ky football team. It's amazing to me how much this year's west Ky representative looks like the prior year's representative, which looks like the prior year's representative. That means fast quick players at the so called "skilled" positions, but poor line play. Big guys, but overweight and slow. BG's O line is just too slow. It wouldn't be quite like the blow out of Christian County last year, where because of the very slow line, Tandy and Hickey did absolutely nothing against Highlands D, but you'd see a similar theme in a Highlands-BG match up this year. CovCath has a much better big line than BG and Highlands dominated it a couple of weeks ago. Smaller, athletic O lines like LexCath and Boyle actually give Highlands D more problems than the big O lines.

 

Defensively, BG likes put a lot in the box and bring pressure. I'm sure they'd give Highlands O some problems but Highlands just has too many ways to score and thus can exploit the weakness presented when BG takes the gambles it does.

 

Coaching-wise, I'm giving a big nod to the Highlands guys, particularly in a state game. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know BG beat Highlands in 95 with Dale as Highlands' head coach. It was his second year at Highlands and implementing his program and systems was still a very early work in progress. The 07 state games shows the development of the program and the head coach since 95.

 

Just my opinion folks. Don't get your school girl panties in a bunch if you think BG would win and thus disagree with me.

 

Sad this game didn't happen. Heck, I'd like another shot at Trinity this year; not because I think we'd beat them. Just like to see if the end of the year performance would be better than the beginning of the year performance.

 

I'll be at the 5A state game. Maybe I'll see things that make me rethink my analysis. But based on what I've seen of BG this year, I'd go with Highlands.

Have to agree with Leatherneck's breakdown on a BG / HHS matchup. I've seen both teams several times but BG about twice as often as HHS. Just 2 weeks ago BG still beat Greenwood convincingly but a pretty bad Gwood team moved the ball relatively well and had the ball inside the 10 yd line on 3 or 4 occassions and got nothing. Last night BG played lights out and now the big margin of victory has everyone thinking BG is the obvious #2 team in the state. One thing BG has over HHS presently is that they have had virtually no serious injuries while HHS has lost their best receiver and probably one of their best linebackers for the year and have several other starters not at 100%. That being said I'd still take the birds by a touchdownor two for the exact reasons Leatherneck stated. Still hope BG gets a title this weekend because I really like a whole bunch of their seniors and they truly deserve a championship. Otherwise won't lose too much sleep if it's another 16 years between titles. Leatherneck, assuming you watched the BG/ Lexcath tapes. If so, why did Dale not go after Bolin like they attacked the CovCath qb. Obviously a win is a win but after watching how BG shut down Bolin with lots of blitzing thought HHS would do the same and actually thought HHS would beat LexCath alot worse than they did.

If Highlands did play some higher quality teams like BG they wouldn't have to worry about counting the zillion points they post againt inferior opponents. Plus they might not be able to count all those paper mache "w"s.

The last time I checked BG has had their chance 4 times to play the Birds the last 4yrs. The problem is they only made it to the State Championship 1 time..We all know how that turned out..Ever since HHS has gone to the 2 platoon system the HHS program has gone to a different level..:thumb:

No apologies necessary. Most people I have spoke with about that subject are impressed with Highlands ability to dominate the way they do since they are in theory a 3A school. In that same thought I have never heard anyone say they should have beaten Highlands because they are a 3A school and vice versa. I think that is the wrong way to look at it as well as approach a game against Highlands.

Because Simon said so, that's why. If enrollment mattered then wouldn't Highlands just be a good 3A team? Highlands has dominated teams from all classes. Obviously enrollment doesn't matter. Otherwise you guys would be a lot quieter than what you are.(This is me responding to you calling me out)

It's a lot tougher to get to the state championship game out of the west. There are no Johnson Centrals in the West to beat down.:thumb:

Unlike you with Highlands, though, I have a lot of respect for BG and wish them well at state and congratulate them on a fine season.

Just feel that it may answer the question for next year. Could be that Bowling Green and Highlands will be state champs this year but if they play each other next year it may solve the question. Just like to see what the # 30 team in the nation can do with the # 82 team in the nation.

It even says 'just like to see what the #30 team would do against the #82 team in the nation. They won't be ranked in those spots next year. Do you understand what Hatz and I are saying/asking now? She may have misspoke or meant something different but it doesn't read that way.

I understand why you guys took it that way. For me though, knowing Henry like I do, I just really feel that's not how she meant it. No big deal though, just my two cents worth.
