Is Bowling Green the #2 team in the state?

Featured Replies

So , will Bowling Green schedule Highlands next year? There may be an open week in Highlands schedule if Dixie drops out?

Actually I think there is another team that should be on HHS's schedule if Dixie drops out.

What does the 2007 state game have to do with this year? The way I see it BG is 1-1 with Highlands. We won 28-12 in 1995 and Highlands won 28-7 in 2007. Neither of those games have any relevance to this year.

Some of us already thought they were.

No, no, no DF. You have to schedule and then beat Highlands to validate your ascension to the #2 team in the state.

They already scrimmage Trinity. Why schedule them in the regular season when it counts?

What does that have to do with the question of this thread?

Just feel that it may answer the question for next year. Could be that Bowling Green and Highlands will be state champs this year but if they play each other next year it may solve the question. Just like to see what the # 30 team in the nation can do with the # 82 team in the nation.

Who said they did?

Is there anyone from Boyle County(besides me) who has seen Highlands and Bowling Green play? I'd add John Hardin but I listened to that game, I wasn't there. I know John Hardin dominated Boyle from start to finish and Highlands didn't. I know John Hardin kept Boyle from scoring for the first time since 1998 and Highlands didn't. I know a lot of people in Boyle County believe John Hardin was better than Highlands. I know Bowling Green beat John Hardin 62-20. I know I said I wanted no part of this discussion but forget it, I'm in. Bowling Green is better than Highlands and is the 2nd best team in the state. But I graduated from BG and I am admittedly biased. Just like the rest of you resounding no's will be so there you have it.

More Boyle County folks weigh in please.

BGreens past 3 state title appearances have been anything but pretty and I'm sure thats why most people would put Highlands ahead. It really shouldnt matter, because theres not a single player still playing on any of those teams, but, BG does need to finish the deal a time or 2 and then they'll get the credit they deserve. They were pretty dominant going into the title games in those years, too. Unfortunately, because of the new realignment, should they beat Anderson Co next week, I doubt that'll carry near as much weight as it would if were Highlands, Lex Cath, Cov Cath..

We won't see that. The #30 team in the nation today will be a different team next year. Just like the #82 team in the nation will be a different team. There's no way your question can be answered without them meeting this year. And they don't. There is no way to figure out who the #2 team in the state is this year. I'm sure that will be the Ft. Thomas line after BG continues to be ranked higher than Highlands.

Of course it won't because they aren't defeating an NKY team. BG defeated LexCath at LexCath in the last week of the regular season.

That's right.....can we get some LexCath fans to weigh in also? Do LexCath opinions count?

I'm not from Boyle County, but I will give my opinion. Based on those statistics, it makes a good argument that Bowling Green is or may be better than Highlands, but without them playing, there's really no way to say which of the two is best.

I completely agree with your point about playing a game next season. It would not have any relevance to the teams from this season.

This is a painful reminder of the ole' days before the realignment & all the comments about how much lesser of a team BG is. My focus is on Anderson County & winning a state championship. Someone asked the question if BG should be #2 in the state & my post was to relay what CalPreps rankings were. (fwiw)

Perception, bigger school and it's still an arguement? Highlands has a lower enrollment (and that is how the classification system deciedes), but WHO ON THIS BOARD WOULD THINK BOWLING GREEN WOULD BEAT HIGHLANDS THIS YEAR???.

Even at that it doesn't matter. So you win one every so often. Take it... Whatever... I will take my 21 over yours.
