I think the part that I struggle with is do catholic schools (not just Cov. Cath, but all catholic schools) have a real mission that they are trying to fulfill or have they just turned into simply an alternative to public eduction for the more affluent in society. They were all certainly founded upon a mission, but is it still a core value. I know that kids will be kids, and they all mess up and do stupid things, but when you see something like this it does refect on the school and their overarching or more lofty mission.

I don't think it necessarily reflects on the school, and it certainly doesn't reflect on the venberable mission of the Catholic schools. If anything, it reflects on this kid and his parents.

I'm not friends with him, so I wouldn't have seen it had it not been posted here. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that there's no way you would have seen it either had it not been posted here.

Kids can't help themselves. They post things on impulse without any concern over any long term consequence. I think that goes with the age group. I think if you have the cahones to throw it up on your wall, you ought to own it when everyone sees it. Just me.

BTW, now I know not to accept theguru's friend request, he'll creep on all my pictures.

Agreed! When you think about it, nobody should ever put anything (pictures, comments, etc) on facebook unless they are comfortable with pretty much anybody and everybody seeing it.

Funny. Everyone is talking about Bobby Rowe and no one has mentioned mom and dad. That's a parent issue, not a school issue.

Agreed. One kid's behavior should never reflect on the school even if it is Catholic school. I attended Catholic school from 2nd-8th grade and all the boys in my class were cussing by the end of our second grade year. It was still one of the best schools I attended. We never got caught cussing either. Now had there been Facebook back in 1984......

Had he done that BGP would have been the least of his worries, more like FBI.

If only I'd known better. In all seriousness kids need to think before they post this kind of stuff. Would look really classy if a place he was applying for a scholarship for or a job with saw this.

This is exactly why I "creep" and "stalk" my kids' fb pages. I don't post or "like" or comment--not going to embarass them. But I have asked them to delete comments and delete pictures. I have even asked them to "unfriend" people who make off-color comments on their walls (guilty by association).

No regrets when those admissions counselors or employers might go snooping around. You can keep it clean on fb and still have fun!
