Don't know if these are the best back ever but here are some of the best I've seen in person:

1) Al Baker- In high school he weighed over 240 and ran the 100m under 11 flat.

2) Mark Higgs-Quick i mean quick with great balance. Played in the NFL for 7/8 seasons.

3) Thomas- Played for Paducah in the early 80's went on to start for Arkansaw. Seem like he could jump for a first down.

4) Artose Pinner- Fast with power and agility.

5) ? kid from Fort Campbell in the early 80's He was about 5'7 and was the fasterst RB I saw. Can't think of his name off hand.

6) Joe Cassey- Crazy talent with speed did lack some agility.

Most dominating I played against was Eric Shelton from Bryan Station. Hands down. That entire team was pretty stacked in 99'.

If we are talking big time then its a short list:

Alexander

Pinner

Collins

Bush

Casey 1st team all USA TODAY. Peterson was the other back.

Casey ran like a freight train, tremendous speed and size.

Never played a down of college ball

Roni Robinson was pretty good back in the mid 90's at Franklin County. Maybe not the level of these guys but just a good one I remember.

Most dominating I played against was Eric Shelton from Bryan Station. Hands down. That entire team was pretty stacked in 99'.

I agree, Sean was probably the best, but what if we were to put any of these other backs behind the line that sean had. They were pretty good. Greg Menetrey was just as good as Frisk. Just my opinion.

Different type of runner. Both were exceptional high school backs. Greg was MVP of the KY/TN All Star game and Justin was AAA player of the year.

This question came to mind as I was scanning the cable guide and I saw that this friday night at 7:00 on ESPNU they are replaying the story of Marcus Dupree, "The best that never was"( well worth DVR'ing). I recall watching this several months ago and remembered him and his "breakaway" jersey from back in the day. What high school running back would you say was/is KY's Marcus Dupree?

 

Y'all missing the point of thread. If it was "The best that was" then without a doubt Sean Alexander be cause he did do it at all levels. So I'm sticking with Justin Frisk as "The best that never was" as on beyond high school/ Sounds like a hit at Justin which it's not because IMO I think he could have been really really good if givin the chance at a "Major" D1 school. But that didn't happen.

How about the Sutkamp brothers from Bellevue back in the late 70's, recall they were the best in NKY in those days. Even though I was at some of thier games, being the young lad that I was, I can't recall anything. Can we get someone with a better memory than mine to chime in here please.

We're really reaching with some of the names thrown in this thread for "most dominant runner in KY history."

 

Frisk? Duvall? Skirvin?

 

Some of the names on here wouldn't make most dominant for their region for their decade.

 

We're talking all time and statewide, folks.

Agree with this completely. Some of the guys mentioned might not have been the best AT THEIR SCHOOL.

Why did he not play in college?

Frisk, Duval ect.

 

Come on, maybe they were decent players but all time greats? Or even the best that never was? Zero credentials.

 

Come up with someone like Casey who was at least 1st All USA Today, 1st team all state.

Grades. He went to a really good JUCO but I don't think he stayed.
