I honestly don't see any way that anyone can realistically refute Shaun as the most dominating...

 

Alexander was the best. I remember seeing him play at Henry Clay during the middle of a hot Saturday. He carried the ball 30+ times, played corner back on defense the entire game and played all special teams. He was the biggest cornerback I have ever seen. He scored 5 or 6 touchdowns and plowed over several guys each and every carry.

 

My second choice would have to be Michael Bush. Just ask Trinity. Redmon had the great coaching ability to play him at QB one play, receiver the next, running back next... He was unreal no matter where u put him. The game against Trinity was a loss but was something like 63-62 loss with Braum QB for Trinity in the state championship. It was crazy what all Bush did.

Quinton Henson from Lynn Camp was one of the best that never was. He had good size,speed and knowledge of the game. Going into to his Senior year he had a chance to break the All-Time Rushing record as well as the All-Time Interception record. He finished his career with 7,148 rushing yards with out starting his Freshman year and 23 interceptions and never played a down in college...IMO one of the best that never was.....

 

 

 

This brings me to another question.......I wonder how many kids have had a legit shot at breaking an offensive and defensive record for a career?

Great List! I played against Al Baker and he was huge and fast. He did underacheive at University of Kentucky. Great example of his athletic ability; I went to a regional track meet at Murray and they had to change the format because the 100 m and shotput usually are scheduled at the same time. Al competed in both events. Rarely does a sprinter throw the shotput and discus. Also, Casey had a great career. The semifinal game with Boyle County in the freezing temps was a classic....

Bush had 116 yards rushing and a TD to go with 33-47 for 468 yards passing and 6 TDs.

 

Brohm was 19-25 with 552 yards passing and 7 TDs also had 52 yards rushing and a TD.

This has nothing to do with dominating KY, which he did.

 

In a forum sometimes we add some tidbits to give more to the discussion, and thats what I did. I have more Alabama records I could share if I felt compelled to, but I'll ask you first. Nope, I'm a big boy I'll add what I want to and you can read or skip over, thats what I do, and I just keep my editorals to myself.

 

No one else seemed compelled to tell me my comment "Has nothng to do with what the best back ever in KY" did after he left the state.

Shaun Alexander was by far the best IMO. A couple other good RBs to mention from the late 70s were Baily Morledge from Beechwood and John Sutkamp from Bellevue. They were both very powerful backs with exceptional speed, and fun to watch. That was a pretty good rivalry back then.

Sounds correct. Unbelievable game. Unbelievable talent on both sides.

If Miles Simpson got the ball 30 times a game he would have broke every record there was in high school football. In a normal game Simpson had about 15 carries and usually got close to 200 yards. If Simpson got the ball more 30 times a game he would have got close to 300 yards a game. Plus he was a more physical runner than Alexander.

Forget Miles, what about his daddy David Simpson in the early 80's. He was probably the best RB ever out of Newport and one of the best in the state in his day.

Simpson was a stud and would probably be UKs best RB if it wasn't for their love of speed backs vs power backs...

 

Simpson has had no problem catching those speed backs in practice and tackling them. Joker should have left him at running back. UK would have won a few more games this year.

From my personal perspective, I have no idea who the most dominating RB in Kentucky History is/was. As good as he was at RB, he wasn't solely a RB. However, if there's ever a thread that asks who the most dominating "player" in Kentucky history is/was, I'd say Michael Bush should win in a landside.

More physical? Maybe but Alexander was daylight ahead of him in talent and was by far the more dominating.

No way I watched them both play many times Simpson a lot better than Alexander. Simpson rarely fumbled the ball also.

How come they are using 4th string RBs and Miles is still on defense? I thought uk fan was making sense more often these day. What does the thread ask?
