Greenup County boy. He was apparently an all-around stellar athlete. There used to be a stone sign outside of the Greenup County Courthouse that said "Don Gullett County" or something like that...I'd assume it's still there.

1986-88 Holmes....Alphonzo Pouncy was a beast in high school. He was a big D1 recruit.

Lots of great one's already named. Scott Russell from Evarts in early 90's was a good one too. Broke Higgs' record for career yards rushing. Held it until I think Homer broke it.

Agree with this completely. Some of the guys mentioned might not have been the best AT THEIR SCHOOL.

 

Skirvin was hands down the best runningback to play for Dayton. In my first post on here, I said that Alexander was the greatest and that the others that I listed were considered very good and dominant, meaning under Alexander. I can tell you from playing with him and seeing him the year after I graduated that Skirvin was a load to tackle and bring down for anyone.

I agree, Sean was probably the best, but what if we were to put any of these other backs behind the line that sean had. They were pretty good. Greg Menetrey was just as good as Frisk. Just my opinion.

Brandon Berger was an outstanding running back at Beechwood, no doubt about it. But how does he possibly stack up against Shaun Alexander?

Since none of the Blueboys have been mentioned. I will throw another great out there in Jerry Madden of CovCath. That kid could be the second greatest running back to ever play for CovCath. He holds all of their records and he was a RB that was just really hard to tackle. :thumb:

Jeremy was a great runner, and a FANTASTIC blocker from the backfield, (probably edges out Galen Healey and Cole Chadwick both as far as Cov Cath running backs are concerned), but I can't possibly put any of those guys over Shaun Alexander.
