Alumni from around the country plan a year in advance for the trip to Louisville in September. That can't happen with the championship game.

I'm not saying it should match the September number, but it was a lower number than previous X-T December games. Might have had something to do with one team being considered a prohibitive favorite.

If you coach your kids to whack the QB after a throw until it gets called, eventually it is going to burn you .

BAREROCK, if X was being called for this penalty week in and week out, I may believe you. However, that is simply not the case. I cannot remember the last time X had ever been called for such, and I go to every game. In fact, I would bet they are one of the least penalized teams out there.

Being the avid follower that you are of HS Football, you should know better than to think the X coaches are out there instructing their players to do so. Both X and T are very disciplined teams and are very aware the fact that penalties can be very costly in a game. That is why it is so hard to beat both teams, they dont beat themselves with such silly flags.

Please dont come on these boards with such unfounded accusations. The guys who practice day in and out striving to be the best deserve better. They win with hard work and discoplined defense, not cheap shots at QB's. With you being such a veteran poster on BGP, you should know better and quite frankly I expected somewhat more from you!

It was pretty cold out there too! The "fair weathered" fans dont show up for these cold games!

I did think it would be a bit of a larger crowd too.

The annual game is an event planned on for months.... the championship game (while the odds are always good for at least one of the 2 to be there) is not 100% until the week before. 20,000+ in a weeks time..... that's pretty good in my book. Think any other 2 teams could do that?

Excellent point...has anyone got any attendance figures from today's three games? Were any anywhere close to the 21, 452 total? Did all three games combined exceed this total?

Under 8K for AA and under 5K for A...

I wonder how much of that was contributed to being on a Friday night instead of the normal Sat afternoon?

Absolutely not. I didn't realize the September game brought that many people from out of town. As great as these programs are they should start planning to play the anual game the first week of December. It would be awesome to see 35,000+ for a state final game.

Anyone have an attendance number for the Class AAA game?

Congrats goes out to Trinity and their defensive line. I called them out this past week thinking that they would not be able to slow St. X's rushing attack down and I will not have a problem saying I was wrong because I was. Trinity's defensive line proved a lot to me in this game and Trinity earned their state title. Congrats on your 05 State Championship and I look forward to seeing if someone can knock off the Champs in 06? :thumb:

Heck XgradROCKdad, I know six other teams that couldn't draw 20,000! It happened in the three games today with just about 15,000 total!

If you have ever attended a coaching clinic ever, there are many coaches who strive to be as physical with a good passing quarterback as possible. Some officials have a slighter judgement on what is roughing the qb and what isn't . I am not accusing X of dirty play. I am sure that it is in their game plan to get after the passer, and Trinity has had great passers for the last 6 years and there has been some calls go against you because the defense is a little overzealous in trying to get to the qb.(which is how I would play it also) It is part of the game,as well as the refs judgement.

Still , take away that drive and Trinity still wins, 7-6. And as far as the clueless one who stated that if you play 10 times , X wins 8, that is truly unfounded and classless. X had 2 weeks to prepare for Trinity for the 1st game. That gives you a huge edge in preparation, and a good reason for the Tiger awesome success in game 1. Both teams had great seasons, Trinity just won the state championship game and with 4 starters on defense still on the sideline with injuries, one of which didn't get to play all season.(a monster of a player I might add) I am one who thought all along that we were in their class and could get them if we had another shot. We did look like the Little sisters of the poor in the first game, but that was just for 9 weeks of bragging rights.(which many a X posters did mightily on here) Congrats to both teams and I feel for Coach Glaser for the loss of his father in law , who I hear he was very close to. I have been through family losses during seasons myself and Coach Beatty went through the same thing with his father last year.(he passed away a couple of days after the last game ) It really puts things into proper perspective. Football is a great game of fun , and it helps heal wounds that we all recieve when we lose loved ones. Congratulations to both teams on sensational seasons.

Merry Christmas, and a happy healthy new year to all !

Congrats to Trinity on the huge win. I called the Guru on Saturday morning to get the score of this one, and was really happy when he said TRINITY WON!!!

If you actually believe Coach Glaser says this then...

You obviously have no idea who Coach Glaser is or what he represents.

As a future HS parent I heard Glaser speak to a group of jr high students and parents...though he hardly even talked about football (which surprised me), he took several opportunities to talk down Trinity, mostly dissmissing programs and facilities. (FYI, this was a predominately StX feeder school function)

I've also heard Roger Burkman speak to parents about Trinity, and he never spoke ill of StX, even when audience questions invited him to do so.

I honestly was turned off by Glaser's arrogance...My son will never play football for Trinity, but he'll be there rooting for them for the next four years.

Congratulations Rocks on a special victory.

Some footnotes: 1)to give credit where credit is due - Glaser sure can coach (I don't see how Trinity fans can dispute that) as he's proven over the last twenty years or so...

2) good no-call on Anderson picking up the ball (I saw it)...while technically a penalty the officials were right to not let it be a game changing call...also, I didn't see Anderson avoid shaking hands...I guess everyone else on StX did because it looked like every single player met at midfield immediately after the final horn.

3) whoever said X wins this game 8 out of 10 times...I think 6 of 10 is a more realistic assessment
