June 16, 201115 yr I for one see the same things on defense. I love Stubbs potential but he has a long way to go to be considered a great defensive centerfielder. Griffey Jr. was a great defensive centerfielder. Stubbs lets balls fall in front of him all the time that Griffey at his age ate up. Hopefully in time hye can develop this skill and if he cuts down on his swing late in the count could become a great all around centerfielder. Not a fair comparison. There is no one playing now comparable to Griffey in his 20's...
June 16, 201115 yr You don't really need to explain it to us. We know it's possible to steal that many bases. He does have more hits than SB's. Somebody is a little snippy...I was speaking my mind and will continue to do so, thanks :thumb:...More hits than SB's yes I would hope so, I was explaining how he impacts the game even with a low avg and obp...However there is a chance he will never make it to the show he has a lot of work to do as another poster said and that's an understatement...
June 16, 201115 yr Author Did anyone else think of Patrick Starr when the Reds swept his Dodgers yesterday? Thought about him the whole series. I couldn't help but think even though he was a Dodgers fan, he was an Angel in the outfield for the BGP Reds fan this series.
June 16, 201115 yr He has been known to steal three or four bases in a game while also going 0-4...He draws walks and has blurrring speed, I've seen some crazy athletic videos of him doing stuff I couldn't believe, I may post if ican find them when I get home...What is hurting him imo is his switch hitting, its just not natural looking for him...He can't hit well from the left side because he looks right handed to me...I believe focusing on his strong side would be a wise decision...His build and tools remind me a bit of Gordon... http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=14238973 Hamilton Inside the Park HR ^...I can't find his steal of home now or his catch over the should in front of the wall in left field when the left field lost the ball, but I still have this quote...“We were playing on this field the other day. The left fielder just lost a ball,” Doran said. “Billy took off. We were all like, ‘what’s he doing?’ He caught the ball over his shoulder, about 10 feet from warning track.”

My Dodgers avatar has a record of 7-3, As of now I'll be keeping it the rest of the year...I believe it may be carrying on where PS left off as far as betting against the Reds and bringing them good fortune...Very good post though, of course we all wish he was still here no matter what...

Snippy? Not so much. Like I said, we understand how much he can impact a game...
June 17, 201115 yr Does anyone know what seasons the Reds wore the uniforms they sported on Wednesday? I'm assuming it was in the '50s since the Dodgers wore Brooklyn uniforms. I thought they were pretty solid looking.
June 17, 201115 yr Does anyone know what seasons the Reds wore the uniforms they sported on Wednesday? I'm assuming it was in the '50s since the Dodgers wore Brooklyn uniforms. I thought they were pretty solid looking. I was listening to it on XM on the way back from Pittsburgh. Vin Scully said both sets were from 1944. He mentioned it was during Nuxhall's debut season.

I thought they were pretty solid looking.I am not sure but I believe that I saw a Dodger game a while back (previous years) that they wore those Brooklin unis. Anyway, they remind wore ed me of those powder blue uni's that the Braves and Royals wore at one time......Ugly!! lol. The Reds road uni's are not that far off from todays.I really liked those.
June 17, 201115 yr The RedLegs start another round of interleague play tonight vs. Toronto. I am not in favor of interleague play at all but the Reds need to keep on this roll they started on the West coast.
