Track The NL Central Champion Reds (Week 12)

Featured Replies

Probably because the season is 162 games long...

Yeah 10 game periods at a time. Look up in a couple of weeks and the season will be half over and they could be 10 games out. Do you think this team can handle the pressure of being 10 back?

You keep talking about how bad the offense has been...yet they are only two games back.

Three weeks ago, they were four games back. Looks like they've made up ground even with the offense being horrid.

Last 10? 6-4. .600 isn't good enough??

This team isn't built to win with big time offensive production. It's built on pitching and defense. If the pitching and defense are stellar, the offense is good enough.

You should tell that to the people complaining about the offense

The Brewers and Cardinals aren't good enough to ever lead by 10 games, so I'm not worried about that.

Was great to see Bronson pitch the game that he did today. The Reds are going to have to get the sticks going come tommorrow and the Yankee series. Good thing for the Reds is that the Yankees pitching has been struggling as well, the Reds should score some runs. Bad thing is that the Yanks have been living up to the "Bronx Bombers" nickname. They have really been pounding out hr's this season. That and GABP may not be a good mix if the Reds pitching fails from what they have been doing. This one should be a good series.

Say what? When did you ever hear that this team was built on pitching? They don't have a legitimate ace on the team and their starters couldn't go 6 innings up until 2 weeks ago. If their offense hadn't carried them until June they would be 10 games under .500.

I'm getting pretty tired of people saying they don't have an ace...

What exactly do you all consider Cueto to be?

You better take a look at how much ground the Brewers made up in the last 3 weeks in this division. They have a verrry good starting staff with former Cy Young winner Greinke, Marcum and Gallardo, and Wolf and Narveson give them a solid 4 and 5 starter. Offensively they are almost as good as the Cards when completely healthy. Tha Cards are the team that is winning with mirrors because their pitching is not very good without Wainwright abd with Carpenter stinking it up. I don't worry much about the Cards but the Brew Crew is a different story.

On a side note, I wonder how long it is going to take LaRussa to go whining about Pujos getting brushed off the plate today or blame his sprained wrist on the runner?

When Cueto puts up 15-20 wins in back to back seasons then maybe we can call him their ace. I like him a lot but he has yet to prove that he is an ace. In spring training Johnny B. named Volquez the opening day starter early on because he thought he was the best of the staff. I think we now know that was not the case at all.

Outside of about 3 starts last year, Cueto has dominated since the beginning of 2010...

Like I said Cueto can be the ace of this staff imo but he hasn't proven it across a full season yet. His numbers in the short time since he came off the DL have been very good. If he can do that throughout the remainder of this season then he clearly will be on the way to being the Red's ace of the future.

Here's the fact. They aren't 10 games under.500. All we are hearing from you is ifs and buts. Doesn't fly.
