9th Region 2011

Nothing hard about this one at all. Highlands wins state football championships because everyone is comitted to the same cause. Coaches, players and parents. Apparently that is not the case in baseball (but hopefully will be soon). When is the last time Highlands won the region in baseball? I know they haven't won state...

Are you kiddn us??? two different sports. Again get on the line and see what they tell you to say next since you have so many friends in the program! lets face it no one will naswer the question of what happens when one of these KIDS get hurt playing men!!!! Thats why Dale has a Fresh and JV teams so the kids don't play against men.

Clyde you know so much tell us why Dale doesnt play the 7/8 graders in the middle school league. The first reason is he doesnt ever want anyone to think they can beat him. So by playing the 7-10th graders who arent ready to play VR baseball is showing everyone we play look we can beat the birds ion something (because they arent allowed to play there best)

Get a grip Clyde while every other team is NKY is in Fla playing baseball on spring break

:banana::jump:I get to go to Fla this spring?

WOW and I didn't even know it! :idunno:

ABC2 you did said every other team from NKy will be in Fla playing baseball during spring break correct?

Oh well, I just off the phone with Coach Eck and he said nope the farthest we travel South this year is to Louisville, Ky for the LIT.

Darn and I was so looking forward to the trip to Fla!

ABC - if you've got an axe to grind because your son, nephew, or neighbor can't be on the team go to Dale or the administration. Getting on here is unbecoming to the community.

And when you see the 19 year old "man" throwing 90 call me.

I think Sexton is the hardest thrower in NKY, he was throwin upper 80's and hit 88 MPH at Champion Showcase on Sunday and Cottingham top out at 85 MPH. I know two Schools who are intrested in Cottingham as a pitcher more so then a catcher.

Sorry i was off by a couple of MPH.

OK Clyde you win!!:lol::lol::lol:

Maybe it is just keeping up with the Jones, if they can all send there kids on spring break maybe they have to much money, I don't know of any other School that kids go on spring break unless its with there family.

This thread started by talking about 9th region baseball. Was enjoying reading about some teams and interesting players. Am really looking forward to the season. Was wondering how this has deteriorated into posts about things only people in Ft. Thomas care about. Maybe you could all share your information on a Highlands website or something, and let the rest of us talk about the upcoming baseball season.

ABC I do not think you get it. Spring Break for everyone is in the middle of the beaseball season. Rain outs or no rain outs, it is an excellent chance to focus on baseball whether you are playing games or practicing. If coaches allowed kids to go on Spring Break, you are falling way behind the teams that are taking advantage of this time. Until Highlands gets this, they will behind the best in baseball and softball in the ninth region. Plain and simple. I say keep allowing them to go on Spring Break. That is doing the rest of the region a favor.

OK maybe i dont get it and really dont care to get it! People out side of HHs will never get it. How many kids have stopped playing baseball at hhs because of spring football? Does Jeremy try telling those kids no you cant do both? Nope because he knows he will lose the kids he needs. So now he is loseing even more then the seniors. 7 Jr and Sr tried out. Does anyone really think they can with that?

Good luck and i am out!!!!

It is frustrating to see the same teams win year in and year out but in cases that I am familiar with notably Highlands, I can say that there isn't a team or coaching staff that works harder or more hours than they do. Believe me it hurts to say this but we ask for truth in this thread and the truth is that if you look at who is winning most of the time they get the dedication of all involved and that is what is what wins. And yes, if you take the coaching staff at Highlands or trinity or X and put them in another school they will succeed, maybe not in one day week or year, but eventually they would be winners because of how they do things.

The above was from another thread in the Football Forum.

My comment: If Dale demands total commitment from his football players all season long, then Coach Baioni has very right to except the same thing from his Baseball players, their parents and the Ft. Thomas community and he should receive it, no questions asked!

CovCath baseball, with Coach Krump at the helm has had 24 consecutive years of 20 or more victories and he demands that his players and their parents give 120% of themselves to the team and the game. That is how you win and while CovCath Baseball doesn't have the numbers of State Titles that HHS has in Football (if indeed they had 3 or more divisions like football does, I am rather certain they would) his is the standard that should be followed for a winning baseball program!

This thread is way off topic. Get it back on track and stop talking about HHS football and spring break and what not. Start up another thread if thats what you want to talk about.

Coach Baioni is looking to build the program. Demanding, at a minimum, the commitment from the boys in season is a must. Those not willing to concentrate on baseball for the entire spring are not the kids you build with.

ABC-- I don't think they can be regional contenders with only 7 upperclassmen. I don't think that they can be regional contenders with the 3 or 4 more boys that have been mentioned in the thread. They are still 2 to 3 years away from competing at the upper level in N Ky. Coach has the 7th-10th grade boys excited about Bluebird baseball. Lets see what happens then.

With regard to 8th grade boys playing up to varsity and facing "90 mph" fastballs from 19 year old men -- is the fear that the younger players will get hurt or get discouraged. I have a very simple answer. No need to play at the varsity level. Play freshmen or JV. Parents request to have your son play at a level you are comfortable with. Even if your son is one of the best 9 at the varsity level - play at an age appropriate level and continue to improve. HHS baseball will not rise to the level of regional contender with 8th graders on the varsity team. Your middle school sons time will come.

Imagine that...another thread turned into a Highlands thread. So old!

HaHaHaHaHaHaHa! You really want to know the answer to this? Or do you already know the answer and guess who played on those back to back Region champion teams and also where they spent Spring Break. Yep, back in the good ole days you could go on Spring Break and still win the Region. Easy answer, Very best athletes in the school played. And yes, we had our Cake and got to eat it too. Also, this spring break thing has been going on for close to 30 yrs in Ft Thomas so all the Highlands haters again are simply ignorant and misinformed. LOL
