This should be one of the more interesting battles of the summer and fall. Those that played running back last year in the FTJFL were Griffin Urlage, Brady Murray, Josh Watson and Jacob Noe. Pat Schoepf may be in the mix as well, but he was forced to play tight end last year because of the weight limit rules. Agree with Raiderbird that none of them really stick out over the other, but are more than capable of doing the job.

 

Sounds like the same problem they had this year with all good backs. Coach B does a great job getting the right kids on the field.

Just curious if anyone knows how many kids showed up today for practice and if there are any transfers of note.

First practice is tonight at 5 pm. You will have to wait til later this evening for the number of kids that showed up.

Just a guess, but I think the coaches will wait until they see what they have before making such decisions. Unlike varsity where a coach has a pretty good feel what he'll have coming back, with the frosh you really don't know what you have until you start practicing. But I tend to agree with RB that strict two platooning on the frosh level, even with 5O or so kids, would be unusual.

They had mid-40s last season and did not 2 platoon. Since that now comes at the JV level, the Frosh season is the best opportunity to see them on both sides of the ball to determine where their strengths may lie in the next 3 years.

I would say not as big overall but by no means small either.This team will have a lot of depth I believe.

At most programs in NKY, the kids have been playing together for a couple years now. I think the Birds will be fine, but when you have 50+ kids to make decisions on where they are playing, it might take a while. I am seeing some rally nice athletes on the field. It's going to be interesting to say the least.
