Highlands Frosh Football 2011

Featured Replies

Probably because what you are referring to is alot bigger issue for you and others than it is for Highlands. LOL

Agree, anytime HHS gets a player that chooses the Birds over Elder/Moeller and Lasalle is a very big deal. It's not something that happens very often. Once again, we are very blessed to have this kid move from Va and end up playing at my school!!!! I was told that the past couple of years of strong National recognition along with some very fine education is the reason he chose HHS. Now, can the kid play? Who knows and who cares at this point.

I am going to go out on a limb and say he can. I like the simple fact the kid chose HHS over a couple pretty big heavyweights.

I highly doubt that! It is zero of an issue for me other than just the usual interest in the area teams and players. But you Bird fans love your football so much that there is no doubt it is much more of an issue for you. From the sounds of T-Birds' post above though, you have something to truly be excited about.

They scrimmage Trinity every year the varsity scrimmages..

Who does? Highlands.....

In 2011 the Varsity will travel to Louisville to Scrimmage the Rocks and then Trinity's frosh will travel to Ft Thomas to play Highlands frosh. When St X dumped the HHS frosh game, Trinity quickly picked it up!!! I think that is how it's going to go down this year.:idunno:

I was informed that HHS Frosh will indeed be scrimmaging Trinity on Aug 12th in Louisville. But I also knew that Trinity would be traveling to Ft Thomas to Play the Baby Birds a few weeks later for the Frosh's season opener. I hope this is right!!

Beautiful summer evening in Fort Thomas. Perfect tempurature, people out walking their pets and teenagers grabbing an ice cream cone at the town center and the Highlands Frosh football team running with weights thru town. I love summer evenings in Fort Thomas.

TBirds, if your information was my PM, I may have mislead you. I don't know for a fact that Highlands frosh are scrimmaging Trinity's frosh. But if Highlands frosh is going to have a scrimmage this year, as I understand By Law 25, it has to be against Trinity. Highlands is only permitted one scrimmage because it has a bye in its varsity schedule. Under By Law 25, any scrimmage against any school at any level counts as a program's scrimmage. Since the varsity is having it's scrimmage against Trinity, the frosh cannot scrimmage someone else (that would be two scrimmages under By Law 25, and as stated above, Highlands only gets one scrimmage). So if the frosh are going to scrimmage anyone this year, it has to be against Trinity and it has to be part of the varsity 3 hour scrimmage time block and it has to be at the same location (in this case at Trinity) as the varsity scrimmage.

I would think that the game scheduled for Thursday September 1st will be moved. This is the same night as the Fox Sports televised varsity game with Dixie.

I confirmed with Campbell County's Varsity coach at the All Star game that the game has been moved to Wed August 31st. Same time, same place per the schedule!!!

Looks like a nice challenging schedule for the young Birds. Have there been any other position changes made in the last few weeks outside of a quarterback being moved to tight end?

Same problem with the Oct. 6 Frosh home game against CovCath being the same night as the varsity travels to Pendleton County (to avoid the Woolfest rush). Anybody know if they have reschedueled that game and, if so, to what new date (perhaps night before again like the other CC game--although that messes up pregame night practice a bit-- maybe they could move it to a Friday night lights game if CovCath has a Saturday home game that week). If they kept it the same night the frosh game likely might draw more fans than the varsity (and might help reduce the Pendleton crowd/seating problem at the varsity game).

Looks like CCH Varsity has a bye the week of Oct 7th. Maybe the Frosh game against CCH can be moved to Friday under the lights at DCM. Avoid the Thursday night conflict. Go Primetime with it. Would be a fairly decent crowd I would guess.

Just looking for some updates on the Frosh team. When does practice start up again? When do they start going in pads? Heard that they have a few 7 on 7's set up and was wondering when and where those were? Interested to hear and see how this group is progressing.

Next Monday is the next scheduled practice after dead period ends Sunday.
