Danville stopped the streak.

I remember 2003 and 2004. Sad day in 2004 seeing Brandon Smith crying after that game. I'll never forget it. The better team won not only that day but in the regular season matchup as well.

Danville stopped Boyles streak of state championships? How did they manage to pull that off?

Johnson Central, Bell County.....right we haven't played anyone. You may very well find out about the LexCath team we played 2 weeks ago if we don't take care of business. We also had 4 or 5 teams on our schedule that were playing in the State Semis in their respective classes. I can handle that.

Would that be the LexCath team that lost:

54-21 to Cov Cath

37-0 to St. X

33-25 to Lone Oak

and 56-7 to Trinity

in addition to the two losses to Boyle (giving up 87 points in the process)?

Boy, they were really tough this year.

My bad. I was thinking of the 47 game winning streak we had during that time period. Brain fart.

Yep. Completely different team 2 weeks ago. As they should have been with their schedule. If we don't take care of business then you'll see.

Please stick to the subject of the thread.

If you have any questions, please refer to this thread for further information.

Ryle did call Boyle. As for a run at a title, the formula for a title will be different with having to beat Highlands. The point about the Ryle game, as someone bought up earlier, is that Boyle is having trouble scheduling games. Why wouldn't they play Ryle who is also having trouble scheduling.

Can you say expenses? I already gave you a glimpse at the schedule. Almost all of those are return games. That means trips that are more than 2 hours away that have to be paid at some point and time.

How many games that are that distance does Ryle play? :idunno:

I don't know your tax base and/or your school budgets but in these current years (last four I'd say) travel has to be gauged and measured because there is no unending stream of revenue.

For example: Boyle picked up Christian County and Johnson Central the last 2 years and made sure they only travelled to one in a years time.

I do know that Boyle initially invited HHS to play in their new Bowl they are developing. They were turned down. That was what led the conversations to go to a more profitable schedule for both and had Boyle repaying a visit North in year 2.

With that added to the schedule, how many trips do you forsee a school making that are 2+ hours and on the public dime?

 I love it Walter. Last thread didn't teach you to look before you leap? :idunno:

Do we have to go over Boyle's 2010 schedule again for you??

Played and defeated:

Johnson Central (you remember them don't you?)

Danville (Class AA semi-finalist if memory serves)

Corbin (Class AA semi-finalist again, if memory serves)

Lafayette (Class 6A Regionals)

Christian County (Class 5A Finalist who got smoked by HHS but did defeat Bowling Green, Warren Central & John Hardin along the way)

Out of 10 Regular Season games, 9 had winning records.

As to the District; the Rebs District won every playoff game against outside competition in the playoffs. A lot better performance than the NKY 4A district had. :D

Now as to Ryle. They had an excellent team this year. They only lost to HHS and Trinity. Solid schedule too. They played Trinity closer than anyone did in the playoffs.

As to Boyle's scheduling: Everyone's schedule was made over 2 years ago, you do know that don't you? Why should Boyle "step up" (your words) and schedule Ryle? They aren't geographically close to them like HHS is. They aren't class rivals. It makes no sense. Why didn't Ryle call Boyle? Because there was nothing to gain by either. Everyone's schedule is designed to get them ready for a run at a title. Looks like Boyle's has worked these last 2 years rather well.

Now let's go over Boyle Co's schedule again:

Johnson Central- Legit

Danville- Gave up 61 points to a team that Newcath beat like a drum 42-0 in the state finals.

Corbin- Again, beat like a drum 42-0 by Newcath in the 2A state playoffs. What was the score of the Boyle-Corbin game again? (BTW, Highlands was a better team than Newcath)

Lafayette- Finished 7-6...Lost to 6-5 Tates Creek and 3A Central, but you want to thump your chest about them being on the schedule? :idunno:

Christian Co- Same team that Boyle gave up 33 to, Highlands smoked 50-0 in the finals. The same Bowling Green and John Hardin teams that you speak of, Highlands has had no problem with in the state title game the past few years.

As far as the 9 having winning records, outside of Johnson Central, none of those teams really played anyone other than Lexcath....oh yea, the same Lexcath team that lost to Covcath 54-21.

The Boyle 4A district indeed had a better showing in the playoffs than the nky 4A district. NKY 4A wasn't very good this year, outside of Holmes. It took a phantom "holding" call however for West Jessamine to beat Holmes in that first round. I spoke with an official at the Ryle/Trinity game and he said himself that after reviewing the film several times, the crew out of Eastern KY definetly wasn't a playoff caliber crew and that hold call was hogwash. It is what it is though.

As far as Boyle/Ryle...I believe Coach Warner tried getting a game with Boyle next year, with a LESS talented team and French said na, I'm good. Oh and go to google maps...geographically Ryle is MUCH closer to Boyle Co than Highlands is. (Ryle to Boyle: 114 miles ...Highlands to Boyle: 132 miles).

I know that schedules are made up for two years. My point is, that Boyle's schedule isn't as tough as you just tried to make it. And their scheduling has worked the past two years...largely in part because they weren't in the same class as Highlands. :sssh::thumb:

Bell Co you played because you two met in the playoffs. Nice try though.

And Lexcath? You mean the same Lexcath team that was smoked by COVCATH 54-21?? I believe that game was also at Lexcath as well.

In 2007, Highlands made trips to Lexcath, Madison Central, and Louisville Central during the regular season.

In 2005, Highlands made trips to St. Xavier, Southwestern, and Madison Central during the regular season.

There are teams who travel 2+ hours for DISTRICT games on a regular basis so I'm not buying the "it's too far to schedule" line. Hell, make a trip over to Louisville. Sure Coach French could find some competition there. That's one area he stays out of when scheduling...why?

I don't jump on your bandwagon very often, but these are all good points.

Birdsfan, didn't see this post before my last two posts. Please delete them if need be, to keep the thread from getting off topic.

Walter why so upset over Boyle's schedule? It did it's job and that was to have the team ready for the playoffs. Why do we need to play Ryle? Just because you want it? Geez! Get over it, it's not going to happen, our schedule if full for next year. We've added Bowling Green instead.

I still don't understand why we need to play Ryle if we are playing Highlands. I thought Highlands was better than Ryle.

Other than a Boyle victory is there anything Boyle can do to earn any respect from Highlands? I expect us to win. I expect us to win every game but if you guys are returning 9 overall starters and we are only returning 8 overall starters then you guys obviously have a HUGE upper hand in this game. If we lose by less than 14 points will we have earned your respect? You guys are treating us like Covington Catholic like we I've never beaten you before. We are 2-2 against you guys. We have beaten you for a State Championship before and won State Championships with you in our class. Do you guys really believe you would have beaten us by 3+ tds this year or last year? If not then why should you guys automatically become 3 tds better than us? We aren't losing as much as you want to believe we are. Maybe it's just weird for me being the underdog and getting so blatantly disrespected but we have beaten you before and we'll beat you again.

Covington Catholic has beaten them many times as well.

Yeah, well if we had lost to Bell County I am sure you'd be quick to remind me of that.

Maybe French said no to Ryle because he already had Gentleman's Agreements with other schools. The same day I found out about our declining Ryle our schedule was completed with a game against Bowling Green. I really don't know the reason behind French declining Ryle and really don't care.
