Actually rotating the fists around each other is an illegal procedure signal; there is no specifc signal for false start, unless they move one hand out from the chest which is illegal motion, or both hands out from the chest, which is illegal shift.

 

Actually if the official raises his right hand before he rotates the fists, signaling "dead ball" or "prior to the snap", then you know it is a false start. If they let the play run and then rotate the fists around each other, then it is illegal procedure, so its actualy pretty east to tell which penalty the referee is calling

Just curious if the Trinity fans would consider Ryle a stronger team than this year's Louisivlle St. X team? I am assuming so.

 

If I had to choose a team to play again between Ryle and St. X, it would be Ryle. St. X is bigger stronger and faster. Ryle received a lot of help from the most one-sided officiating crew I have seen in 30 years. The problem with St. X is that they are so one dimensional. But they can still run right over you.

I really enjoyed my evening at Ryle. Plenty of parking. Nice stadium workers, good hot chocolate and I thought the p.a. announcer was very good.

I know you're used to officials being bullied by the mystique of Trinity HS but I believe you are reacting to the call, not the play. Did you actually see some of the holding penalties they were calling? I bet you think it was not OFF Pass Int also. Trinity is the better team but dont act like Ryle was given gifts by the officials. How about this, maybe if Ryle's players were taught to hold on the perimeter and illegally cut defenders, there may have been a few more holes opened offensively.

Yes, the offensive pass interference happened right in front of me. He shoved the db after the db had two hands full of his jersey.

 

I started to list the ridiculous calls but it would result in nothing but silly back and forth. It was the worst officiated game I have ever seen and that is all I am going to say about it.

 

If you look at Trinity's game stats you will see that they got called for more penalties than their opponents. I would not call that bullying officials.

You ignore the development of the Union Raiders that WILL make a big difference every year once the kids from the Union Raiders are varsity contributors. The Union Raiders started this year with 6 and 7 graders and were a very disciplined, successful and tough group. Excellent little team that played against 7 and 8 graders and won most every game. A committed and successful feeder program is the way that a public school elevates themselves to annual excellence. I guarantee you that the feeder program is a huge key to success at a public school like Highlands. Ryle will become a force to be reckoned with each year over time. I compliment the Ryle coaches who are taking the steps to improve instead of whining that there will not be a 6A champion from NKY ever.

 

I personally don't buy into this. The Union feeder program will produce the same kids that were on the field tonight. That isn't going to make a difference against Quick, Bishop, White, Dawkins and the O/D line Trinity had. There is a ton of talent in NKY, enough to beat Trinity or St. X but it's all spread out. With Cooper opening it's only spread even further. It will strengthen Ryle in NKY no question about it, but when your going up against a GCL like program it's only going to be a marginal difference.

Ryle football has forever pulled kids from the BCPFL which feeds 4 public HS's, not to mention all of the Catholics and occasionally Highlands. Ryle's hempel, teepen, mullens, mace were good enough to compete with Trinity's studs. Having this system in place may not produce quicks, bishops, or whites but it will allow them to have more kids like the former and they are less likely to play talent-less kids. Ryle will be able to compete with Trinity again and hopefully its not 3-4-5 years down the road.

You bring up some fair points. Trinity should feel fortunate they only had 80 more penalty yards, 1 touchdown, a 30 yard gain to the Ryle 2, a 40 yard gain and an interception called back. Trinity is taught to hold and cut illegally. As Ryle's sign said before the game, I guess our "luck" continues.:lol:

Yea! Thank you! The refs were so clueless, I think they still think it's called "Illegal Procedure". Everytime the announcer made that call, I just laughed...

Refs were flat out bad. Not just toward Trinity, although most of the night it was, but there were several times when Ryle got first downs, and the ref would wind the clock before the chains were set. The KHSAA would do EVERYONE a favor and not let these guys work many games again.

Even with the feeder programs starting in NKY football, not just Ryle, IMO no NKY school will exceed the level of Trinity or St.X in football. When you're only allowed to play with the hand your dealt, it's hard to beat a well selected hand. It's just how it is. We can believe, dream, hope and build all we want, but as a previous poster said, our NKY talent is too widespread among the district restricted schools to build a well stacked dominant squad.
