That's not really relevant to the issue - Trinity and Highlands scrimmaged this year - Highlands lost by 7. Highlands has played Cincy St.X and other bigtime programs and won. They have had VERY good teams over the past ten years. I am sure you would agree that some of these Highlands teams could have been very competitive with the past ten Louisville Trinity and X teams. The point is that due to a great feeder program, great coaching and a great reputation/winning attitude they COULD have won a couple 6A championships over the past ten years with the limited population they draw from.

 

From what I am reading I think you have the right idea. It will take 3 or 4 years to see the fruit but I think your on the right track..:thumb:

It's a great league, and it has some outstanding coaches and has also developed some outstanding players such as Travis Elliot, Scotty Gray and Vince Murray just to name a few. Sounds like nothing but sour grapes to me because your kid didn't get much playing time. Perhaps it's time to work a little harder. I happen to have a very good friend who has coached in the BCPWFL for over 30 years and he flat out told me that the parents have screwed this up so many times that it's not even funny. The league used to be set up as a feeder system, but a group of parents didn't think it was "fair" because one particular school kept winning all of the championships. So, of course, the parents whined and changes were made. The problem is/was always the parents. They are the root of all problems with youth sports. Most are not able to properly evaluate their own son's talent level and then whine when they don't get to play enough. It's is tough world. It's competitive. Life is not fair. Suck it up.

 

I love the BCPWFL. It has helped my kids grow as young men, become good athletes and has taught them how to respect their fellow man. I am sure the league will be in a much better place now that Ryle has taken their chosen ones and started their own, superior feeder program. Good luck with that.

Scott Gray, Vince Murray, and Travis Elliott can thank genetics and hard work, not BCPFL. Further more, this league hindered their development as individuals due to the emphasis on winning and not teaching. Ryle is clearly making an effort to permanently pass Conner and Boone. If you wish to continue to support the pee wee system and their coaches, more power to you. But the system is a joke, the design is a joke. Great players have come from this league but no one should credit the league for their development. I think you will see the benefits of the Ryle feeder program within 3 years.

When the BCPWFL was started it was a feeder program for THE high school - Boone County as it was the only school in the county. Then came Conner, Ryle, Walton Verona and now Cooper. Also, it can not truly be called BCPWFL because in the past there have been several players that have come from other counties that the boys were too big to play in the Northern Ky Pee Wee League and coaches used them to stack their own teams. When my son played one Senior team consisted almost entirely of boys that were definitely heading for Beechwood. Coaches have brought in players from Erlanger and Covington that could have played in their own leagues. I applaud Ryle and Coach Warner for what they are attempting to do and I think it would be in the best interest of the other schools in the county to develop their own feeder programs in order for them to compete with the most successful programs in their respective classes. Most of the schools in Campbell County and Kenton County in recent years have started their own feeder system or Middle School Teams. The NKPWFL senior division is very depleted as a result. Times have changed and in order to compete in the future the schools that wish to remain competitive have understood the importance of starting their own feeder programs. It was just a matter of time before it happened in Boone County. Coach Warner has had this vision since he took over the Ryle Program. And Roman Empire before you go off on me, I am not one of those whose son didn't get to play much in the BCPWFL. My son came up through the BCPWFL system and was one of the better players in the league making All-Star every year he played and being a member of two super bowl championship teams.

You could not be more wrong on this post. Let me speak to one current player on Ryle's team, Travis Elliott. He was TAUGHT from a very young age how to play football the way it was supposed to be played. He played for a coach in the BCPWFL who imo is a legend. He also taught Ryle's coach, Warner how to play hard-nosed, smash mouth football. He is also a big part of the Ryle family and is on the sidelines for most of their games. This coach had a HUGE impact on Elliott and is a very big reason why Elliott is the type of player he is today. Elliott was taught to play to win the game, nothing else mattered. That is real life. He was never treated with kid gloves and babied during his development. He was taught to be a warrior and how to run over people and smash them in the mouth. All by this legend of the BCPWFL. You can trash the league all you want, but there are some very good coaches in the league who produce great players. The system as you call it is a joke, because of the mentality of people such as yourself. The league used to be set up as a feeder, but like I have stated earlier here, it was changed because of a bunch of whiny parents who said it wasn't fair, because the winning was lopsided. Perhaps the losers needed to work harder, and not whine more. Don't sit here and tell me that Elliott's youth coach had nothing to do with his development. Plain and simply, FALSE. You really think it's coincidence that the youth coach, Warner and Elliott are all connected? As far as seeing the benefits of the Ryle feeder within 3 years, don't see it. I have said nothing negative about what Warner is doing, more power to him and I hope it does bear fruit. I just happen to think there is more to the winning formula than a feeder program. I just don't like it when people take shots at the BCPWFL when their stud player is a product of the league and they give all of the credit to his hard work and genetics, gimme a break. I hope your son had a great experience in the league and grew as a young man. I know my kids did.

Way to go. Nice response. I am glad to know that he is the lone exception and not the rule. He is a legend and gives his heart and soul to the kids that he coaches. How many other youth coaches that you know have been recognized by the NFL? To see you sell him short just proves to me your lack of knowledge and history regarding the BCPWFL.

Well said! My son had a great experience in the league and had wonderful coaches. I am not against the BCPWFL in anyway I just feel that it makes sense that by the time these players reach the 7th & 8th grades they already know where they are going to HS and it would be in their best interest and the interest of their school for these players to be indoctrinated into the system of their respective schools. Look at the sucess that Highlands has on the freshman level year in and year out. Their coaches don't have to teach them their system because they have been running it their whole careers. They concentrate on the finer points and special teams and they are two steps ahead of every program in Northern Kentucky. Almost every year their freshman team is the best in NK. They don't have to waste time teaching a system they concentrate on refining their players and techniques. Yes, it is going to take more than a feeder program but it is the first and most important step.
