I did say that and I do think Highlands has the advantage in special teams, but I still think the Bluebirds are primed for an upset. I think if Highlands wins special teams will factor into the equation, but I am picking JC to win in the end.

I gotcha... I was confused that your said special teams will play a big factor but highlands will stil lose.

Jude is in my opinion a much more physical player than Vocke. Doesn't have the water bug moves that Vocke does. More of a slashing type runner. Sort of between an Elliot and a Vocke in style. Jude is the best RB I have seen this year (and of course that would include those two, who are both exceptional RBs).

 

How does JC '10 compare with JC '09 or JC '08?

I would think that Weinel is a much better kicker than JC's kicker as far as leg strength. JC should be starting from deep in their own territory after every Birds TD. That is a big advantage.

Having seen CovCath Play against Ryle, La Salle, Beechwood, NewCath, Johnson Central and Highlands, Jude is by far the best back they have faced. His ability to slip tackles and his balance are as good as any I have seen in HS. Having said that his O-line and lead blockers are what make the JC offense go.

Honestly Highlands LB's are much better than CovCath's, so I would envision the running lanes being a bit tighter for Mr. Jude this Friday. I think he will have a strong rushing total, but he won't find himself 4 - 6 yards past the LOS before he gets hit, like he did last week.

 

If you want a description JJ Jude's style I would say it's similar to former Bird RB Kramer, with a bit of Travis Elliot mixed in.

I don't believe that the Ryle loss has as much to do with it as others think. Ryle has a very good team this year. I believe that the last game against Dixie and the one against Cov Cath could definitley have something to do with it, which still doesn't say a lot. Dixie has very good players, especially Pike at quarterback and Cov Cath made a lot of improvements over what was a bad start to the early part of the season.

You don't have to convince me. I was just responding to why some people may have doubts or why JC fans may have confidence. Didn't say I have doubts as I believe HHS will be ready both mentally and physically.

But the question was why there might be some JC confidence or HHS worry. I happen to agree that the close games should give the team confidence each time they play through one.

Is Jude the only weapon that JC has ? Just wondering , Boone County couldn't win state with Alexander , again a one dementional team.

It will take more than Jude to beat Highlands. That's why so many people believe the Birds will win. I would expect a close game into the 3rd quarter and the Birds pulling away late.
