RivalsHigh.com ranks the 50 states for overall depth and quality of HS Football

That's just silly. The 1988 & 89 Trinity teams were virtually unbeatable and nationally ranked. Highlands 98 and 07 teams were two of the best that have ever been seen in KY. Last year, Ohio threw its best at what was a good, but not one of the greatest Highlands teams, complete with a national #1 ranking, and got smacked and sent home with their tail between their legs.

Do not mistake OVERALL quality as opposed to top echelon quality. KY's best are every bit, and sometimes better, than Ohio's. Now below that elite line of 4 or 5 teams, Ohio rules the roost.

The 98 and 07 teams had players going both ways, could you imagine if the 09 class would of been able to have some of the leaders of the team going both ways. Fortunately, there was no reason for it to happen, they did just fine with the two platoon system.

Trinity would make the playoffs in Ohio, but they wouldn't be sitting pretty with 19 state titles if they were in the Buckeye state, IMO.

The early 2000's when the Rocks had Brohm, they would've won multiple titles. The year Elder won the state title, the Rocks absolutely destroyed them.

Next year, I'd take Trinity over ANY team in Ohio. Period.

Trinity would have won one title with Brohm. To say that you would take Trinity over any team in OH next year is ludicrous. There are only two teams in this state that have solid OH Division 1 enrollment. The population and talent level is different. As someone already said, last year St. X beat both 6A powers, barely lost to Highlands on an away game, and was the third or fourth best team in their city, let alone the state.

Could you imagine what the 10 class would do with some leaders going both ways? ...and some back-ups being able to play both sides of the ball? HHS can't claim a "small school disadvantage" argument if they don't use their better athletes to their best advantage. That said, I can't believe I'm spanking on a system that has lost 2 games in half a decade. LOL!

Did you read what you wrote? "Ohio threw it's best" and "got smacked and sent home" yet you still feel that the '09 team was only good not one of the greatest.:confused:

Sorry that makes no sense.

What is it about the '09 team that you feel doesn't qualify it as one of the best teams to walk on Highlands field? Just curious.

Show me one Kentucky power that has a winning record against Ohio competition.

Nevermind, all Highlands teams are the greatest Highlands teams...except that the 98 team would beat them all by 40.

Keep dreaming!!!

The 09 team was good, but Collinsworth and Co. would still be getting scraped out of the cleats of the Hefty Lefty and Smith. 98 was bigger, strong, faster, and more talented than perhaps any team ever to grace a field in KY. We may never again see a team run through the state competition the way that Highland's team did. Their AVERAGE score for the year in 98 was 53-13, and those 13 almost always came againt the third stringers.

Didn't see any Ohio powerhouses against the '98 team. The toughest team they played in '98 was Louisville Male and Male was a good team. However, not one Ohio team did Highlands play against in '98.

That's because Ohio knew better than to venture south of the river that year. KY teams almost voted to declare Ft. Thomas a separate Union for the 98 season to avoid having to play the Birds that year.

Not taking anything away from the '98 team. They were phenominal. But to not include the '09 team in the best Highlands teams is a mistake. Heck, the '68 team had it all over the '98 team. OK, now I'm stirring the pot and I'm only kidding. Although '68 is considered one of the best.:D

Ok OK I understand you were on the 98 team. I can appreciate your support for the team and I by no means am ever going to downplay the talent of one of the best Highlands team, we can agree to disagree.
