Really? Not compete? As I recall, and I am far from Louisville or being a Trinity fan, Trinity has doubled up the score in head to head competition on the Ohio division 1 state champion in recent history. The fact is that they can compete because they are only one of two schools in this state that carries the male population of Ohio division 1 teams. Making overgeneralizations like Trinity couldn't compete in Ohio is so far from fact that it makes the poster who wrote it sound ridiculous. Trinity is starting six sophmores this year, and still beat a GCL team. Can't compete?

To his defense, Elder is 3-5 this year and only 1 win against an Ohio team, Winton Woods. I believe Trinity could compete in Ohio and would actually make their program better. The quality of football would have to be better. Trinity could have a relatively down year and still be the best 6a team.

SK played the best team in the cincy area in Middletown, Colerain is also good other than that it's not too impressive to list wins against Elder, St. X etc this year...

This thread doesn't sound much like Highlands vs. SK any more, but Trinity fans hanging their hat on a last second victory over a 4-5 Elder team says it all. Most KY fans have no idea of the depth of OH football; there are around 10-12 legitimate title contenders in all 6 classess in OH. Any KY team would struggle in its respective class, because they would not be use to facing a physical, quality opponent EVERY WEEK of the playoffs

Not being from NKY, I have no dog in this fight. But I think there's plenty room for both programs to be proud of who and what they are, regardless of whether or not they play.

 

Highlands is an established, longtime power. The school with the most state championships. Kudos to the Birds for their success and everyone else else is chasing that standard. I admire the Birds for their willingness over the years to take on all comers. Makes for exciting football for their fans.

 

Simon Kenton's past may not be nearly as illustrious, but the Pioneers have worked their way into the discussion of the top teams over the last few years. IMO, Marksbury's done a fantastic job in Independence - and he doesn't have to play HHS to prove it. Sure, a win over HHS would be a new feather in the Pioneers' caps, but they don't need to play them to gain admittance to the "Top Teams" clubhouse...

Another blind statement. Middletown is the best team in Cincy area? Here's the Rivals top 100 list. Let me know where you see Middletown on there. Colerain is #22. But you probably have your own list.

Well said and as long as we compete with at an equal level with the team that BEAT highlands I don't see it as being an issue. Not being on coaching staff or affiated with the school, maybe there are things at HHS that SK does not approve of. Who knows?
