You may WANT to see it, but the ACC and Big East aren't going anywhere in the power structure. Too much money and exposure on the east coast for that to happen...

I guess the other approach for the BSU supporters could be to rank their wins for me in terms of difficulty. Let's assume they win out.

You can like them. You just can't justify them being in the title game.

 

Why not? Everyone knows how I hate the BCS and how they determine the championship. However I have seen this system put teams in the title game that should not have been there, over other teams. There is a good chance that at least one of the two teams in the title game, will be hard to justify putting in over anothe team. Which is the whole problem with this system. If they go undefeated there is no way we can justify another team being in over them. Its all opinions in college football, and they have just as much right as other teams.

While I agree overall with your theory you still have to support your opinion if you think BSU deserves 1 of the 2 . That's where it gets challenging due to their putrid schedule.

What? If someone believe Boise is the best or 2nd best team in the country that is where they should rank them and schedule should have nothing to do with it. Schedule helps us determine how good a team is but it is not the only factor. Isn't saying I think Boise is the 2nd best team in the country, they have a great offense, defense and coach enough? Maybe other teams have had harder roads but that doesn't necessarily make them better.

Cats, my point is one has no real concrete basis for believing they are #1 or #2 in the country. What could you possibly base it on?

 

As to your question, no, you need to be able to back it up with something somewhat substantive. You're basing your belief on their performance. Their performance came against a weak schedule, thus.....

I'm not saying anyone YET has done a lot to lay claim to #1. However, all of the teams you mention have already played a consistently decent to pretty good schedule with tough games remaining. BSU has zero truly tough games remaining. That would be fine if they loaded up the front end with tough games but they didn't.

I would love to see Boise State and TCU crash the BCS, but at the moment, Oklahoma's win over Florida State and Oregon's win over Stanford look better than Boise State's win over Virginia Tech.

Clyde, you will be waiting a long time for that to happen. When it comes down to it there is no good argument for Boise to be in the title game. People can only say they think they deserve it but in the end they play in a JV conference and their out of conference schedule isn't much better. If Boise wants the respect of the big boys they have got to get out of the power puff conference they are in.

Boise State football reminds me of Gonzaga basketball ... or maybe Xavier.

In my assessment, if Boise State played LSU, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Nebraska & Oregon's schedules up to this point, they would still be undefeated. And if they played Ohio State's schedule, I believe they would have the same record as the Buckeyes. I don't see them being undefeated, at this point, with Auburn's schedule; nor am I certain they would just have one blemish if playing Alabama's. I'll grant that this is my opinion, but I'm just not seeing how Boise should be left out of the national championship discussion. From several things I've read in the past, Boise has tried to "schedule up" but not many BCS teams are willing to do a home-and-home with them. And to be honest, if I'm an upper-tier SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, or Big 10 school I can understand why.

It leaves no room at all for a legitimate team playing in a weaker conference. And I'm not defending all the little guys, but Boise has stepped up to the plate in BCS games, both in the regular season & bowls. They are to college football what Gonzaga has been to college basketball, with the exception that they've had much more "post-season" success.

Then Boise needs to quit asking for a home-and-home. Frankly they don't deserve it. If I am Boise and really want to be in serious consideration for the NC game there is no chance a teams like Wyoming or Toledo are on my out of conference schedule. How can Boise with a straight face complain about no respect when they play in the conference they do and then have the never to schedule out of conference games like that.
