Apparently its at OSU but not for the Univeristy. After talking to him he said that Pike should be there too. So maybe someone who knows Pike can confirm?

He can verbally commit. You can verbally commit anytime, I believe a certain past Tenn coach offered at 7th grader, who in turn "verbally Committed".

 

The reality with D1 football, is that it is ALL verbal until the signing day of your Senior year. There is no early signing date, so until you sign your LOI in February, everything is Verbal.

The kid we haven't heard a lot about is the kid from Campbell County. What can someone tell me about him? He threw for quite a few yards last season and what should we expect this year?

Pike may be the best QB in the State as a Jr this coming season. He has a long list of "big time" D-1 schools already interested in him.

 

I'm not trying to throw Zeke under the bus or anything but he didn't really play QB at all. Ryan Wilson was the starter. Zeke played OLB and wasn't that great. I don't think he's a top 5 guy.

I have read through 4 pages of this stuff and find it rather amusing. I have no doubt that Zeke Pike has offers from multiple D-1 schools and my bet is that they are not as a quarterback. For one he has great size and quickness which will attract attention in and of itself irregardless of his age. Second, his father played Division 1 football and was an NFL'er for a number of years. This leads me to believe that this kid is being recruited by numerous schools as an athlete. Whatever college he chooses will mold him into the player/position that they feel he will be most successful in. Reminds me of Derek Smith of a few years ago and Tyler Grubbs this year. Football players that excelled on the basketball court which gives a pretty good indication as to their athletic abilities.

 

As for Towles, I would say that he definitely has D-1 potential if for no other reason than because of his size. Again it does not mean that he will be a quarterback in college at a D-1 school.

That makes sense then, thanks for clarifying when he turned 17.

 

As far as it being a problem in Ft. Thomas, no it would be an advantage just like it is at Dixie but it wouldnt hide the fact that it would still be an advantage.

 

Clyde, as far as your post I agree to an extent about many kids being a year older but in this case he is more than one year. I know of another NFL former player who did the same thing with his current 7th grade son. He has an April birthday and he just turned 14 last week. Bottom line, I hope it works out for him and we can watch him play on Sundays like we did his father.

 

The only thing is that this boy is not going to be 6'5" and needs to grow a lot in a hurry to even be 6'. He definitely has ability, but there are numerous kids that can play in the classes above and below him. He most definitely will not be a one man show.

I think this post is pretty accurate. Pike may play qb in college; he may not. However, he will have the size and physical skills to play D1 at some position. With kids often deciding to go to one of the schools that first showed the "love", it makes sense to offer the scholarship now and worry about the position to be played later on in time.

I agree. I would like to hear more about Kremer. He had big numbers last year but we don't know much about him.

 

As to other QB's who may be sleepers, I would say whoever QB's at CCH is a good candidate to be a sleeper. Erpenbeck came out of nowhere last year and the same could happen again because of the quality of the program and number of players on the roster. Also, Lloyd's QB's often put up good numbers in their offense so is there a sleeper QB on the Juggs' roster? Anyone else?
