Dixie is not known statewide as a football powerhouse; therefore, when you have a D-1 quarterback on your campus that according to others on this thread this year-2010-should be a senior-surely last year he should have been on the field as a quarterback. That's all.

 

Face the facts-Dixie has had trouble getting by Highlands, and more troubling is when CovCath has been down, the Colonels Red and Blue have been a pretty even matchup.

You have got to be kidding....a D1 talent in Northern Kentucky for a school that has never won a state football championship has improved that much from his sophomore and junior year in the off-season that now he is ready to catapult to the top of the quarterback charts in the area.:puke:

It takes more than just a great QB to make a run deep into the playoffs. Give John Elway a call and I'm sure he will agree with me.

 

John Elway wasn't a linebacker his sophomore year in high school.

He has obviously impressed the scouts with size and a strong accurate arm. Now lets see how he does with a pass rush. Only time will tell.

He also wan't palying linebacker on those Broncos teams. My point being-with such a great talent, and IMHO, a good coaching staff, what is really holding Pike back?

If he is a true D-1 quarterback then he should lead his team higher than a 3 seed in the state of Kentucky 5A districts though.:idunno:

Irrevelant to whether he is a top qb in NKY in 2010.

 

Dixies qb last year was pretty effective IMO, not to mention a 2 year starter, if I remember correctly. He was also a senior on a senior dominate team that did have high expectations. I can only assume that they felt that Pike was not quite ready to be the starting varsity qb as it was only his 2nd year ever playing the position. So they allowed him to start varsity at a position he was more familiar with and the allowed him to develop as a qb by playing qb on the JV.

 

By the sounds of it the coaches made a brilliant decision for his development as a qb, along with his parents as far as getting him to the right camps and getting the proper instruction outside of the the high school.

I do look for them to open it up though but we will just have to wait and see. Because they are now basically a counter trap running football team. An extremely good one at that, whose results speak for themselves, repeatedly. One thing that HHS does well is adjust the offense to the strengths of the players.

Seems to me that a lot of teams have trouble getting by Highlands!! :laugh:

I don't know how Coach Mueller does it but you are exactly correct. I don't know of another coach that could install the number of offenses he has in all the years he has been at HHS. :thumb:

I am not here to knock Pike at all, and have said he is a very good player, but I seem to have only seen him on defense during the varsity games for Dixie last year. Wasn't Wilson the quarterback? And if he wasn't the QB, why wasn't someone this good at the controls for the Colonels offense in 2009?

When Lorenzen was a sophomore, Dale constantly said he was one of the 5 best quarterbacks in the state, and while he didn't start, he sure did play, but then the Bluebirds were blowing people away. Dixie didn't play Pike at quarterback for whatever reason, but it certainly wasn't because they were blowing people away. Much different circumstances from a historical perspective.You might be surprised what I know and the only statement I will agree with you on is that Pike may be a D1 player, but doubt that it is at quarterback, and his on field and on court actions will have to come to an abrubt halt. He isn't nearly as good as you and he think he is.
