Even though I'm one that said last year that he'd be a D1 player let me defend some of those on here.

 

Often times on here and other boards excited fans get on here pimping their favorite local player. How many players on here have been "sure D1" only to end up playing at TMC or Georgetown? Happens all the time. Add in that we rarely hear of sophomores getting offers and you've got yourself a recipe for skepticism.

 

Very very rarely does a player who garners this much interest end up at Gtown or TMC.

Some players get D1 offers and still decide to play at Georgetown , I think many factors , other than D1 offers , determine what college they attend. Brandon Roller had D1 offers and is going to Georgetown , does that make him less of a football player or student ? I don't think so.

 

I think Roller is one of the best linebackers I have seen in several years. It absolutely doesn't make him less of a student because he chose Georgetown. It is a great school, close to home and we don't know all the details and his goals. But purely as an athlete and football player, there is obviously a difference between Georgetown and a big D1 school.

Instead of congratulating Pike on having 5 offers as a sophomore and the most D-1 interest than any other player IN THE STATE in his class, I keep hearing why he won't be good, his age, his Dad, he wont play QB in college, "does he really have an offer" among other things. I think that is sad!

Agreed. I think we all are curious to see how he looks in varsity action. I will say, I have seen him make some plays and throws that very few high school QB's can make. But can he do it on the varsity level? I think he can but he has to do it in a varsity game before people will believe.

Easy, my friend. You read way too much into my comment. At no point did I mention anything about academics. If that was the case I would have mentioned someone not going to , say, Centre.

 

The overwhelming majority of kids going to Gtown do not have legitimate D1 offers or they're at the lowest level. GTown's success proximity make it a great choice.

Towles moves pretty well for a bigger QB.

When Pike was a frosh he was by far the most impressive nky qb at the frosh level. He will be a good one if he can keep a level head. He can sometimes get a little out of control..:thumb:

I am not here to knock Pike at all, and have said he is a very good player, but I seem to have only seen him on defense during the varsity games for Dixie last year. Wasn't Wilson the quarterback? And if he wasn't the QB, why wasn't someone this good at the controls for the Colonels offense in 2009?

Its hard to rank someone who hasnt taken a varsity snap as a starter yet. I think he will have a great season but when he faces Highlands it wont be like facing Scott.

It takes more than just a great QB to make a run deep into the playoffs. Give John Elway a call and I'm sure he will agree with me.
