Interesting take. However, based on what I saw of the teams this year (not past performances and not on won-loss records) I think Ryle was better than Trinity (although to be fair, I saw Trinity play early in the year and some believe that Trinity was much better later. They were simply terrible against Cincy X and if they got better, they would have had to get a lot better to be better than Ryle) and Male (not a very good football team this year. Withrow was better than Central. Colerain was no where near the Colerain of past (although I expect that to change this year). And Cinti X was above every one on Manual's schedule. Just my opinion based on my observations.

 

Give it a rest that Ryle was better than us. You have to be kidding me. We have been beaten by X and only X in KY for a while now....I am OK with the fact that we were #3 this year. But that's a short rest. Ryle? HAHAHA

I though you all usually came in by private jet or personal chopper.

Some would argue that the top of 4A is just as strong, if not stronger, then the top of 5A. (Boyle Co., Bell Co., Lex. Catholic, Lone Oak to name a few.)

Also, only 11 can be on the field at once. Enrollment is irrelevent. It's about having the right eleven.

Don't be so sensitive. Nobody is saying that Highlands isn't a top flight football program. It's just that they don't play the most difficult schedule.

Boy, this has to be the craziest post I've ever read on BGP, period. Enrollment is irrelevent???? What are you talking about? Anyone who thinks the game of football is won or lost solely by playing "the right eleven" is hitting the sauce. There is a reason why you don't see too many 1A teams beating 5A or 6A teams.

 

And with this in mind, it actually is an impressive feat for HHS to do as well as they do playing up in class. With the exception of playing Beechwood, every team Highands faced in 2009 came from a larger school (boys enrollment-wise). Of those 15 games, 14 were against larger opponents. And HHS won all 15 of them.

 

Question: Of the teams Trinity, Louisville St. X and Manual played in 2009, how many of those opponents were larger programs? I doubt it was many. I can guarantee it wasn't 14 out of 15.

Back to the scrimmage...

 

So how does Trinity usually approach their scrimmages? Are they used as tools for trying different things, or are they played basically as real games, with Coach Beatty going all-out to win them?

 

I will be curious to see how the attendance is for this scrimmage? It sounds like the game is at HHS... I'd say that if the weather is good that day the local turn-out could be quite large for a scrimmage.

Tools, not real games but good effort is demanded.

The way i see it because this is a scrimmage and not a game, the only way that the better team is going to be determined in this game is if it is very obvious. I just forsee a lot of post scrimmage debate and if the game is close I don't think the winner should hang their hat as themselves as a better team because they won a scrimmage.
