I drive the speed limit or maybe 5-10 over.

 

Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes just to get out of my hollow road and out to the main road, depending on how many of my good neighbors parked their cars partially in the road the night before or how many cars I meet coming up the hollow on my way out. When you meet a car, somebody has to back up until you come to one of the 2 wide spots where 2 cars can pass. :lol:

No reason you can't make up for that time on the DB and Cumberland Parkways, and KY 80 isn't that bad a road in most spots either.

I do get get it, I was just trying to point out that Louisville and NKY might be inconvenienced this year, in the past WKY had this same issue. But trust me, I know they do not care and I do not care either. Last year I had just gotten back from iraq and I made it to the game in the ville, not a problem. In my opinion, if they wanted to see the game, they would go and it wouldn't matter where it was held.

The 2A semifinal featuring Ft. Campbell and Monroe Co. was played at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., because the FC field was too torn up.

 

That was only part of the reason. The decision makers wanted to show the clarksville fan base some returned support by playing the game in a larger stadium to allow for more fans on both sides and making it easier for both sides to attend the game (no passes going through the post gates). There were a lot of Clarksville fans at the game too, a lot of lettermen jackets from all of the schools in Clarksville and Fort Campbell. The drive for Monroe county should have been about the same, but did not have to go through the hassle of getting on post. Everybody won in this situation I think.

The way the distribution of the 6A schools works the line geographically more or less splits Louisville in half. There are three 6A districts in Louisville, so unless you want to grossly go against geography the districts have to be split onto 1 side or the other.

There has been one fact left out of this whole discussion regarding the disdain of Louisville, Trinity and X supporters that differentiates their argument from any other state matchup: they're from the same city. As an outsider, it seems comical and illogical that two teams from the same city that are 5 miles away need to drive 2 hours south and over 475 miles aggregate to play a football game.

 

No other state final matchup has that issue. I don't think this would be such a big issue if the opponents were from different cities (SK, Ryle and Scott County in recent years).

 

I understand the KHSAA's reasons and take no issue with the "forced" decision to move the finals.

UK would be an ideal spot location wise. But many people's arguments with PJCS is that it's too big, so that would be an even bigger problem at UK. Not to mention, UK is natural, not turf, so I don't ever see it being there.

 

It would not feel bigger if they allowed only lower level seating. I'd say that is around 30,000 - 35,000 seats ideal. Turf is still an issue however.

Actually very simple to fix the problem:

 

1. Since 6A is realistically always going to be T/X, then let them stay in Louisville and alternate their home fields for their championship.

 

2. The other classes can play their championships on alternating sites, like maybe WKU or EKU.

 

 

On the other hand, lets remember its all about the young men who play the game and we should just let them play where ever the agreed upon site is and support ALL teams ALL the way.:idunno:

Always?? Wow...that's not arrogant.

 

Sure, Trinity and St. X account for the majority of the KY top-class champions, and probably even account for the majority of 4A/6A championship appearances, but they certainly aren't the only teams in the championship. In the last ten years, Male won in the top class, and Ryle, Scott County and Male have made a combined 5 appearances.

 

And as for Louisville laying claim to "ownership" of the 6A championship location...not even Highlands tries making claims like that. Should the Superbowl be played in Dallas each year simply because the Cowboys have made more Super Bowl appearances than any other team? No...the championship game is played in a pre-determined location and teams compete for the PRIVILEGE to play there.
